    I agree with this!

No doubt Maidana hit Khan clean before that and Khan thought **** this!

No he really isnt a smart fighter.

He has excellent speed some of the best i have seen since camacho etc, but he was firing a majority of thse shots just hoping they would land with little to no accuracy.

Of course this isnt the sole reason i dont believe he is a smart fighter just one of them.

Khna had felt Madinas power and decided to switch to long range to reduce the chance of getting caught with a big shot

Not really, i havent seen the interview, no one is saying he had to turn into a body puncher but he should have gone their from time to tme.

And going down to the body does not leave you open if you know how to throw the shot correctly, why didnt he just do it in the same manner as the first one?

afterall he was out of range

How stupid do you think Maidana is?

Maidana started covering his body after that punch, as would any boxer...

watch the knck down again, he worked his way in and landed it, no way he woul have got caught as he was not in the line of fire.

Body punches leave your head more exposed. Jumping in to land body shots against a massive puncher can be a recipe for disaster.

You guys should watch the Prescott fight again. Notice how Khan tries to jump in for a body shot and Prescott catches him coming in -- that single punch pretty much turns his legs to jelly and leads to the eventual KO. Khan isn't likely to forget that moment anytime soon. He's probably better at going to the body and covering up at the same time now, but it's still a risky thing to do, especially if you're a fighter that likes to box on the outside.

Im sure i read somewhere that he said he was trying to but couldnt due to Maidana covering up and countering Khan... And to be fair if i was being countered by someone who hits that hard id try something different ... probby run!

Maidana lowered his elbows, and throwing a body punch under the elbows would have exposed his chin.

If i remember he used to have a habit of reaching too much when throwing the left hook to the body, he must have been afraid madiana would catch him with a big punch if he kept throwing it

Maidana was trying that right hand counter over the top from round one. Dropping the left for a body shot would have opened him up too much, and let's not forget Maidana has surprisingly good timing.

That said, how on earth Maidana got up from that is still beyond me. I have never seen anyone go down from a body shot that hard, and in that much pain, and get up. Not only that, he went 12 rounds at a fast pace, after writhing on the floor in agony! Shocking. Does anyone have any other examples of someone getting up from a shot like that?

    Spot on bro!

That is exactly how it happened, whenever you throw a body punch you are open for a counter and that was something Khan did not want to do not because he can't punch to the body he just didn't wanna take the risk
