Why didn't Marciano look to get one more win?

    A few dates here:

Marciano anounced his retirment on April the 27th 1956.

Had he fought again then negotiations for the fight would almost certainly have started well before that date.

Patterson was propeled into contention for the heavyweight title by his win over Tommy Huricane Jackson on June 8 of the same year.

I therfore submit that his 50th fight would almost certainly not have been against Patterson.

Rocky was scheduled to have a fight sometime in June of 1956.....but with no viable challenger.....his back starting to bother him...and not getting along with his manager Al Weill...The Rock walked away before his powers had faded...a fighter with his style
    doesn't last forever....and retired in April 1956...

Rocky was smart enough to know it would not matter ...

The "Super Bowl" would be named the "Patterson Bowl" from the number of times a young Patterson would be bounced off the canvas (like a superball) if Floyd had fought Rocky.

With Rocky fighting his number 1 contender in 5 of 6 fights and the contenders Rocky fought beating most of the others there was nothing of note on the horizon.

Also back problems and money issues with Al Weil combined with a spartan training schedule that could wear a fella down.

I used to wish Marciano took an easy fight like Valdez and I think he would have had Valdez not lost so badly to Bob Satterfield. It would have been a nice icing on the cake for a 50-0 with 44 KO's but there were no money fights out there and Cus said he was going to keep Floyd at 175 as long as Rocky ruled the roost at Heavy

Could you Imagine how many people would hate Rocky had he went to 50-0 with 44 KO's, probably a few more that hate him now

While Floyd wouldn´t have been ready for Marciano, he would have posed some problems for him with his speed and power.
