I don't get it. Was he hoping for a DQ?

Because, in the immortal words of (probably) a certain M. Tyson -

He took at least 4 flush all out punches from GGG.
    What exactly didn't you get?

Yeap, that could be a reason. Bet the upper cut he ate a bit earlier helped making decisions too.

Yeah he definitely felt that nasty uppercut earlier on in the round and then a little bit later he ate about 7 or 8 really hard shots in quick succession. If GGG catches anyone with a sequence of shots like that they're going to be in serious trouble.

He didn't want it anymore, he probably could have gotten up but only total destruction was next and he knew that more than anybody.

I don't mean this in a bad way also, dude was done.

Just beautiful wasn’t it Serge, this is what you get when Golovkin is relaxed,I felt against Canelo he and Abel were too worried about working every second of each round cause of the judges instead of working the openings like this with the jab and uppercut.
Shame it didn’t last longer as I suspect he’d of corrected the body shot thing too.

I doubt Canelo will want the rematch although he’s not one to shirk a challenge but I just feel that Golovkin didn’t handle the big fight night as well as Canelo who’s more used to it so I reckon in the rematch GGG would handle the occasion better.

You're right, he was more relaxed last night. He was indeed nervous and even a little rattled against Canelo. That upper last night was beautiful, you can tell though it's not a punch that comes naturally to him but he's been working on improving it. It's not going to be easy to land an uppercut like that on Canelo but Golovkin did demonstrate that he can throw the uppercut from a distance while closing distance (rather then an uppercut "straight upwards" from close quarters).

That was more of a seek-and-destroy uppercut which are difficult to commit to. That takes a lot of skill to be able to throw that uppercut from that kind of distance and land it with power. And to be honest just the fact that Gennady was able to land an uppercut like that with power shows that he's still in his prime.
