Woulda been a high profile win for him. Anyone know why the fight didn't happen? I remember 50 and Gamboa were talking insane smack.
mikey doesn't want to be a boxer. he's collected a nice nest egg and doesn't want to fight m ore. its unfortunate. but he wanats to be a cop. kudos to him.
Mikey's last fight was in January of 2014, the next month.... In February 2014, Garcia along with Bernard Hopkins and a few other athletes attended a summit at the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health at the United States Capitol, in support of furthering research of preventing brain damage and other mental risk in competitive activity. The summit consisted of speeches about preventing brain damage and research to aid already suffering victims. He has some money, an undefeated record, his health, and he was never that crazy about boxing to begin with. Good luck to him, I think Gamboa would've beat him.
Bob wanted Gamboa nowhere near any of his prospects with potential name value that were the same size as him, such as Garcia and Lopez. His only value was as someone who could be defeated by someone 1-3 divisions above him, such as Rios. I mean what would he have done if Gamboa had won, actually tried to promote a Cuban? :roflatsch
Very well said. You are one of the few that truly understands the boxing business. I think this is pretty much why. Garcia probably could have gotten beat bad and been exposed. He only fought tougher slower opponents. He didn't want any of Gamboas speed.
Will be very interesting if that comes to pass. We could start seeing Rigo in the ring more regularly, as Haymon will be able to offer opponents good money to fight him
