Wasn't Benn still pretty ****ed up from the McLellan fight? Thatt was a pretty rough period for him and he was never quite the same after the G Man bout.
General Zod posted some great links up about 4 months ago regarding the situation. To my knowledge, both fighters wanted the fight, but King wanted to tie Roy into a 3 fight contract, and Roy didn't wanted to be tied to Don. Roy just wanted the contract to be for one fight only. Roy was very wary of Don, and he's only worked with him a handful of times during his career. I think it would have been a great fight and build up, but Nigel faded very fast after his fight with the G-man, struggling with the likes of Malinga. Regards, Loudon.
In the Collins fights, Benn was bobbing and weaving better than Joe Frazier ever did! Seriously. Jones would've stood still and flicked out fast jabs/shots at Benn's low, mobile head...allowing Benn the chance to suddenly launch one of his big shots or sneak one of his short overarms, on Roy's chin......
Why didnt Jones fight Benn, probably the same reason why he didnt fight McClellan, Collins, Eubank, Michalczewski, Girard, Maske, Erdei, Calzaghe, Nunn, Rocchigiani. He could fight people who had looked lucky against journeymen like Toney or fighters who had been exposed previously
No. Read again. I wrote fighters who looked lucky against journeymen, like Toney. Do you not think Toney looked lucky against Tiberi? Or how Toney scraped a draw with S Williams. I wouldnr class Toney as a journeyman, but I would say hes a cheat
