Why didn't Oscar vs Tito 2 happen??

Maybe you misunderstood what i said , De La Hoya quoted " ............. " not me quoting De La Hoya's righfull claim of mot re matching Tito .

Ill go back to what i said initially , the fight never got made for financial reasons , or i beleive i said Tito priced himself out of a fight De La Hoya thought he won , what would you do ??? , would you take a 25/75 cut against a guy you were sure you'd just beat , when he can go out and a better looking cut elsewhere ???

Opinions are hot on De La Hoya Trinidad and i had Oscar winning the fight by two rounds , every time i watch the fight i see it the same way , your right in what you say , Whittaker and Quartey were quickly dismissed as damaged goods as soon as De La Hoya's hand was raised , when in actual fact they were 50/50 fights , and nobody could argue with Oscar losing them fights , not even me !!!

De La Hoya was up on judge Keith Macdonald's card by 2 at the time of the stoppage in the Hopkins fight . So it cant be that laughable to think Oscar may of been winning the fight

 

King priced Tito out of the fight.

I remember King saying that the fight would take place, the only two stipulations; a) fight takes place at 154 b) switch the signatures around!

In any regards, Don King yelling 75/25 at the post fight press conference does'nt equate to the bottom line of what Triniad was asking for to rematch.......

Through the press, it was well documented that the Trinidad's felt that a 50/50 split would have been a fair deal......DLH however thought he was being generous in offering Trinidad the same split he got the first time.

Thats all that really needs to be said about this negotiation......you get beat, and you think you're being generous in offering the fighter that beat you the same split.patsch

......then as the years went by, DLH never even mentioned the possibility of a Trinidad fight until Trinidad had had several fights in a division above his.

When Trinidad climbed and had several fights at 154 lbs, DLH would say, if he wants to fight the fight would be at 147 lbs......

When Trinidad had a few at 160 lbs, DLh would say, he would have to come down to 154 lbs......knowing full well Trinidad would have a hell of a time coming down to that weight again.

Anyone that knows anything about negotiations knows one thing. It was up to DLH to make the fight happen and it could have been had at a 50/50 split.

DLH was'nt willing to make that offer.....Trinidad was'nt willing to sell himself short after already having beat DLH.

To Trinidad's credit, he went up to seek and conquer divisions above Welter and he did'nt duck anyone!:deal
