Reportedly, Jake and Rocky did have it out on the street a couple times, at least once when both were middle aged. (Fraternal squabbles should hardly be a surprise between two who were so close.)

I think John Garfield can tell us something about Graziano and LaMotta. From what I know they were something like childhood friends or something similar, Graziano and LaMotta that is.

Burt, most think LaMotta-Graziano would have been a mismatch in Jakes favor, how do you see it?

Jake was much bigger and Rocky ain´t never knock him out despite his huge right hand. Jake would stop him mid rounds in a war in which Graziano would be punished pretty bad but somehow still be competative.

Long after they hung 'em up, Rocky 'n Jake spent hours ribbing each other, breaking-up gym rats at Stillman's.

Jake might win... but I doubt by KO.

Jake only scored 30 KOs in 106 pro fights. He was stopped 4 times... Billy Fox, Ray Robinson, Bob Murphy, and Danny Nardico (in his 103rd pro fight). He went 83-19-4 (30) overall and was a MW World Champ.

Rocky was only stopped 3 times in 83 pro fights. He was stopped by Zale x2 and Robinson (in Rocky's 82nd pro fight). He also scored a KO over Zale in their 2nd fight. He went 67-10-6 (52) overall and was a MW World Champ.

In his prime Jake stood 5'8"... Rocky was 5'7".

Jake beat Ray Robinson 1 out of 6, Jose Basora (2-1-1 vs. Basora), Fritzie Zivic 3 out of 4, Tommy Bell x3, Holman Williams (in Williams' 175th pro fight), Bob Satterfield, Tony Janiro, and Marcel Cerdan among others.

Rocky beat Al Bummy Davis, Freddie Cochran x2, Marty Servo, Tony Zale 1 out of 3, and Tony Janiro x2 (he also drew with him) among others.

Jake has the better resume but I don't understand why so many people think he was so much more durable. I also don't understand why so many think he would stop Graziano.

They should have fought each other... the fans would have loved it. Friends fight pretty often. When close friends Simon Brown and Maurice Blocker fought it was awesome, Brown KO10... they beat the crap out of each other!

My pick? Lamotta by close decision.

By watching their fights? Graziano was flattened by both Robinson and Zale. LaMotta took the best that the likes of Robinson, Cerdan, Satterfield, Marshall could offer.

LaMotta wasn't a big puncher, but it's the kind of fight where some one is going to have to go in my opinion, and we pretty much know LaMotta isn't going. It would be a war and I can't see Graziano lasting 15 rounds. LaMotta is just too strong for him.

La;ptta was a very damaging puncher, not a knockouter though. It´s a fight with an atg mw with the size of a smw against a borderline great mw with the size of a ww/mw. Neither is a slick boxer but a "in your face" type fighter. No chance this will be anything but a war. And considering all facts I can´t see anything else but a stoppage in LaMotta´s favour. We´ll never know for sure though.
