I don't blame Wlad for anything tonight. Sultan failed to come forward and make this a fight. All he did all night was lean back and try and counter Wlad from round 1. Why didn't he abandon that strategy all night?
Exactly... they act like it is Wlad's fault that Sultan didn't bring the fight to him. Wlad stalked him around the ring the entire night... and pushed the pace of the fight.
Because everytime he got close that ****ing octopus grabbed him that's why. The only chance he had was to land something from the outside. Which wouldn't happen because said octopus would flinch if Sultan blew a fart.
Did you see this fight? Thats just a complete lie. Wlad didnt do a lot but Sultan did next to nothing. Ive never seen a fighter give up his belt with so little effort.
Also... I love how people keep going back to the "holding" bit.. when there weren't even many clinches in the fight.
Sultan literally gave up after round 3. Did anyone see his face at the end of the round? He just sulked back to his corner with that "I can't win" look. He looked defeated very early and basically decided to go into survival mode. And who gets blamed for a boring fight? Wlad.
Sultan didn't do much because he couldn't figure out how to hit Wlad. If he didn't get caught with the jab, he was missing as Wlad stepped back out of range. And yes, occasionally Wlad clinched, but not nearly as much as he has been. Great job at controlling the distance but I would've wanted to see more from Wlad.
no because that octopus hits like a train. iggy stayed on the outside all night then when he wanted to try something he lunged all the way into wladimir's chest, smothering his own punchers. i fail to understand why haters cannot see that wladimir like ANYONE ELSE would hold onto an opponent if they were chest to chest. ****, would you prefer wladimir keep backing up if someone does that too him? or raise his hands above his head when they are chest to chest and let them tee off on his ribcage? a lot of clinches wladimir is invovled in are based on the fact he hits ****en hard and the opponent prefers to throw a bomb then hide in his arms everyone knows wladimir is a long range fighter so it's quite smart for them to get into safety (also known as cuddle) range.
If Sultan had attacked, he would have run into one of Vlad's bombs and gotten knocked out. This is very clear. The only reason the fight lasted 12 rounds is because of Sultan's awkwardness. He was there to survive. I am not surprised that the bout turned out this way.
Im a fan of Wlad but both guys were at fault. Klitschko was fighting too cautiously even though he had the fight in the bag a long time ago. He simply refused to stay in the pocket, even after he had forced Sultan into a position where he couldnt escape. I think he was worried about getting hit with the same counter left Sanders decked him with.
Yep. That's exactly what it was. Ibragimov did absolutely nothing different than what he normally does. Take an occassional chance by leaping in with a left and a right hook behind it. Then take some time waiting on defense, backing out in straight lines and trying to draw a right hand to counter on. Same Sultan, different fight. Sultan was backing out in straight lines right from the opening bell. All Waldo had to do was put right hands behind that jab all night when Sultan was backing up. But then again, he did hit Sultan clean and couldn't hurt him as badly as Ray Austin did. So maybe it just comes down to a power deficiency.
