Why didn't the Klitschko bros mix it up with the American heavies?

So this is your window for the fight. I'm sure you know being such a big Lights Out fan, Toney was busy humiliating himself against Couture at this time. Taking that MMA money to lay beneath a guy named Randy and receive a ground and pound.

Toney was not ranked in the top 50 when those defenses occurred.

Byrd only won that fight because of Vitali's injury. Byrd was being paced until the injury. End of thread and kisses

Well we can certainly go over Vitali's record, but it seems to me that Vitali fought a lot of guys whith less credentials than Toney. In fact, a win over Toney would have been one of Vitali's best wins!! I remember that after Toney stopped Rahman in their rematch, one of the Klits went straight to facing Rahman.Need I say more? I think it is safe to say that the Klits were never in a hurry to face Toney and that James had more left at this point than Rahman. I think the reason for this is not so much that they believed that they could not win but that James can make you look bad, especially the older Klit who had awful technique.I stil remember Kevin Johnson doing his poor man's James Toney imitation on the ropes and Vitali missing a ton of punches. One thing about Toney, when faced with a huge challenge where he is the underdog, he always showed up in tip top shape in his career. (Nunn, Barkley, Jirov). For example, a guy like Gomez what did he ever achieve at heavyweight? He beat nobody and got KOD in one round by a nobody. Do you get the picture now?

I'm not going to address Dino because he's proven himself to be so unreasonable and circular over the years, it's just a waste of time.

But it's obvious why Vitali vs Byrd 2 didn't happen. Vitali had shoulder surgery that put him out for 6 months and there was no way of knowing what he'd look like after that. The WBO wasn't gonna wait on him when they could make money with Wlad. That's the way of the world.

"Rather conveniently, the WBO moved Wladimir up the rankings to become Byrd’s mandatory challenger, just a few months after his win over Vitali, "

Vitali came back with an expectedly bad performance in his tune up over Hoffman. By that point he was in rebuild mode, and so was Byrd after the Wlad demolition.

Why the hell would they fight each other after that? Makes no sense. Vitali got rounds in and secured the WBC rating that would get him the Lewis fight. Meanwhile Byrd got the IBF rating, and secured the Holyfield fight when Lewis refused to face him.

These guys are prize fighters, they don't face each other for wounded pride. Both men were looking for bouts with Lewis or a major title shot, and had the right to pursue that.

I for one would not have rated a Klitschko win over Toney at that stage as anything impressive. They would have schooled that blimp and people would be questioning what the point was. In hindsight perhaps they should have given Old Man Holyfield his fight, dragged Tyson out of retirement and given fat version Toney his fight. The name value would be considerable to some folks, clearly.

and that is the problem with the Alpha titles right there. With Vitali the WBC, Wlad with the WBO and Byrd with the IBF, it pretty much made sure that 3 of the top heavyweights did not fight each other.

You won't address me directly cos you're a forum coward whose still butt hurt after I utterly clowned you in this thread right here.

So Mongoose , the WBO wasn't going to wait on Vitali?? Have you proof of that ? Provide source for your information.. What that? You made it up? ...Thought so.

    But...

Did Vitali request a tune-up first and then Byrd after? Why not? Perfectly reasonable request to the WBO who were always favourable to the Klitschkos.
In fact Kluas-Peter Khol who was promoter to the Klitschkos had some sort direct affiliation to the WBO.

Vitali could have easily let Byrd take a tune-up while he fought Hoffmam if he really wanted to avenge the loss , but he knew well that fight would never happen once he let Wlad step-in on his behalf.

This notion corroborates with Byrd's claims that there was a plan for him to fight Wlad instead. . Vitali had no interest in blocking the fight because he simply had no interest in the rematch.

What you presented is just biased opinion , in which YOUR version of events are completely different to Byrd version of events.. If people are to believe you , then you also expect them to believe that Byrd was telling non-truths. Are you calling Byrd a liar?

Anybody whose ever watched a Byrd interview knows he's a very honest guy who always tells it like it is.. He isn't lying when he said Vitali never tried to avenge the loss.

One more thing Mongoose -disgraced former poster , twice perma banned certified Klitscko bumboy - your pitiful lies would contradict the notion that Vitali was winning easy and only lost because of injury.

If the fight was so easy for Vitali , then why would he need a tune-up? If he was fit and healthy to fight Hoffman , then why couldn't he fight a small feather fisted non-heavy who he supposedly would beat easily if he had two arms.. He had two arms against Hoffman. Clearly Byrd brought something to the fight that Vitali was weary of , hence why there was no rematch.

    Yo sad sack.

Canelo had knee surgery after the first Golovkin fight.

    https://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/102/590x/canelo-knee-injury-946597.jpg

He didn't go looking for a tune-up against a bum.. He went straight back in with the bigger , harder hitting Golovkin.

Loma just had shoulder surgery . He wants to go straight back in there against the bigger harder hitting Lopez.

    https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2020/06/12/08/29521982-0-image-m-71_1591947623390.jpg

Joshua had surgery and was in crutches 4 months before he fought Pulev.

Examples like this go on and on.

This is the cold hard reality for you son....

Vitali was neither good enough to beat OR rematch a guy half his size who hadn't the power to put his fist though half an inch of wet sheet rock.
Create all the little excuse you want .. Vitali dodged that rematch.... These are the FACTS!!

Those were never particularly logical fights to be made.

    No explanation beyond that needed.

In my opinion Vitali fought a lot of bums. The likes of Sosnowksi, Charr, Kevin Johnson...there must have been more worthy opponents out there, do not you agree?

The alpha titles have covulated things. It's important to consider context and not apply ones own standards or the standards of one lineal world title era to present boxing careers.

    For example?

I notice Charr is still a belt holder today. Not bad for a bum.
