Why didn't the Klitschko bros mix it up with the American heavies?

There are a number of fighters in recent times who have managed to consistently faced the best competition available despite boxing politics and proliferation of belts.

Saul Alvarez is a great example of this and proof that it is possible to fight the best available if you are inclined to do so. Fans have very little to criticize regarding who he fights.

At that stage, I can see your point there.

    Troll post. Lol.

Canelo is one of the most criticized cherry pickers of this era and you don't have to dig deep to know why people feel that way.

He's not amazing but he's solid. He was decent when Vitali fought him.

My point being, the Klitschkos fought who was around. And the guys that were around couldn't have been that bad because they are (incredibly) still relevant today.

Frankly Charr, Johnson etc were better than 45 year old Holyfield or land whale version Toney. Beating ancient Holyfield would have done nothing for their resumes and honestly, it would have been borderline shameful.

He's not so much a cherrypicker as a cherry pulper. He makes sure allll the juice is squeezed from the cherry before he sucks the pulp off the pip.

He's been consistently facing the best available. If there are critics they wouldn't seem to have much of a case. He did a far better job of facing the best than Vitali who missed out on among others
    Povetkin
    Chagaev
    Valuev
    Tua
    old Holyfield
    Rahman
    Ruiz
    etc

old Holyfield would have been a massacre. Come on. And they tried to make the Valuev fight. Bigfoot wanted no part of Vitali.

I recall Vitali in his comeback run as WBC Champion tried to get Valuev, Haye, and a few other big names. Not his fault they'd rather cash out against the seemingly more vulnerable Wlad, who also happened to own more belts, and have RING lineal recognition. The only guys that fought Vitali, were the ones that had to and just didn't have a path to Wlad.

That said for a guy that was like 37-41 and coming off major surgery, Vitali was active, fighting 10 times in three years against 10 different opponents. He didn't have time to wait, and fought whoever was willing.

That said, he got some really good wins. Peter, Adamek were top guys. Chisora win aged well. Gomez was a good win. Arreola, Solis, Kingpin were all good opponents at the time and rated by RING. The only fight I think that was a waste was Briggs, but idiots on this forum like Pimp C and Naysayer had been calling for Briggs for years, insisting his American attitude, size and power would dent Vitali...lol.

I can't even be bothered with the Canelo comparison, a young superstar backed by Oscar, who had his pick of aging Champions, even rejecting MW King Golovkin as a mando to fight Khan, Chavez Jr, truly the most overly manufactured career in the sport. The WBC lap dog...a symbol of anti-org integrity...brainwashed or a troll, laughable stuff. I actually like Canelo as a fighter, but his career is frustratingly privileged and risk free. He at least exposed Ward's Kovalev "wins" and made Golovkin look like a million bucks by being outboxed twice by the older man.

It is absutely hillarous how you try to boost Vitali's record. Well you are not fooling me. Just as an example, who the **** did Gomez beat at heavyweight? Nobody and do not forget he got the **** by out a nobody in 1 round at heavy. Kingping Johnson, please come one., he is glorified journeyman...Adamek looked like lightweight in there...Chisora come on, that is an average win at best...Arreola, come on, who did he ever beat? ...Solis is a nobody...Exept peter, that is a good win
