Why didn't Walcott beat the count in the Marciano rematch?

  1. He was hurt too badly by Marciano's powerful punches

  2. He misunderstood the count

  3. It was a fix

  4. He decided he was too old for this **** and took the easy way out

    I'd not be the one to call Walcott a coward for deciding he didn't want to go through tthat again.

    Well Walcott was old, the first fight was very physical. Had a brutal ending in the 13th round. He finds himself on the canvas in the very first round of the rematch. Being human I think he realized there was nothing he was going to throw at Rocky it was going to stop him from putting a lot of hurt on him. I think he decided he had a good career and a family and he just didn't quite beat the count. That doesn't make him a coward. Makes him a human being with intelligence.
    Kind of the same question you could say why did Alexis arguello not get up in the rematch with Aaron Pryor? He was conscious sitting up but he made a rational decision. Sport really isn't worth dying for.
