Funny thing is, had Ward beaten undefeated world champ Bute, it would have been classed as Wards best win
And if Bute had gone on to be pimp slapped by Froch and Pascal would it still be considered Wards biggest win? Or would people here be calling Bute a hype jiob?
oh I get it, this is a covert calzaghe bigup thread. Bash Ward for facing everyone but one that counts in his division in 3 years in order to biggup Joe who fought only 1 that counted plus a series of irrelevancies in 7 years. sorry to say but 3 boxers have already superceded Joe's resume. In another five years it will be another 3 boxers, and then Joe drops out of the top ten SMWs. That's what you get for keeping low standards, you drop out of rankings fast.
We want to know why YOU think Ward didn't take the Bute fight at that time. Please tell us something. I've given you Ward's own words. The article I quoted even favored Bute not being picked in the Super 6. What's your thinking on this topic?
Of course it wouldnt be as big a win for Ward if he beat Bute now. But when Bute was an undefeated champ it would have been deemed Wards biggest win at that time as Bute had overall looked more impressive than Froch and Ward against common opponents, was at that time the #1, had more title defences etc. Its like Bute was a good win for Froch, but not as big a win for Pascal
Point is, why did he have to face Froch? Why didnt Ward face him, when Ward mentioned the S6 winner should face Bute. There was no guarantee Ward was going to face Bute if he had of beaten Froch. So once again, why didnt Ward face his then biggest challenger?
I have said all along, I dont know why Ward didnt btake the biggest fight available. He mentioned before about the S6 winner facing Bute and then said he wanted Bute to fight someone else first. Sounds odd as Kessler didnt say the same to Ward and I doubt Ward said that to Rodriguez
I dont know. At the time many viewed Bute as a big threat, maybe he did also. Bute had looked overall more impressive against common opponents, but I wouldnt know what Ward was thinking or if he was worried, i just know that the biggest fight didnt happen and read that Ward was not interested at that time
Had Bute beaten Froch, he would've had a name on his resume fans knew about and respected. Instead, people will remember how inferior Bute looked against Froch. Again, lets stop beating around the bush. Was Ward shook of Bute? Be brave. It's just backlash, lmao.
