What would beating Bute have done for Wards "name" that beating Kessler, Froch, Abraham and Bika didnt do???

You're acting like Bute was some megastar!

At the time, these same fools DID think Bute was a super star.

They said that everyone in the Super 6 was ducking Bute, and that had Bute been in the tournament, he would have beaten them all. :yep

This so much reminds me of how now they are saying all the same about GGG, even though GGG hasn't fought anyone and his resume is exactly the same as Bute's was then.

Ward's team didn't want Bute in the tournament in the first place, when some fighter went out, all the other were ok with the idea of letting Bute in, except for Ward's team. After the tournament was over, Ward still didn't want to fight Bute. Bute had won against S6 guys.

Style makes fight and triangulation theories don't work in boxing, as everybody knows. Guys sometimes loose almost every round and get caught by a punch at the end of a fight. Lool at Groves - Froch. Bute was caught in the begining of the fight and never recovered. Bute had nine title defense against good opponents, the best available, and dismantle all of them. I don't take away Ward's acheivement which are better than Bute, but Bute was a threat and the only fact that Ward's team didn't want Bute in show that Ward didn't want to fight Bute in the first place because he represented a threat to him in and after the S6!

Considering Bute sells between 15,000-20,000 tickets per fight, megastar fits pretty nicely compared to Ward's live gates. Andre beating him in Quebec would've been a boon for his name value and future fight prospects- it's not just Bute based in Quebec. Beating Bute there would've improved his career long-term by a decent margin not only from winning that fight, but by getting recognition in the Quebec market.

Ask Hopkins if playing ball and fighting in Quebec was worth it for his career.

Froch and Kessler sell out 40,000 seaters, so I ask again...what would beating Bute have done for Ward names that beating Kessler and Froch didnt do?

Beating an unbeaten champ, which he had never done because his biggest win is a Calslappy left over, a left over who also won against Froch.

And Froch beat Bute like he was a pimp that was owed money by his *****.

We now know the Bute was an overhyped fighter, who was not on the level of the guys that Ward had already beaten,

Ward said, he needed to beat a top level fighter....Bute fought Froch...we all know the rest.

Had Ward done it in any of those 3 fighters' hometowns, he'd be a bigger name and would have more money to his name now.

But hey, better off to stick to the cinderblock tower in Oakland where he may sell a couple thousand tickets instead....

Well doesn't really pay any relevance now does it?
Ward is #2 p4p and isn't exactly slowing down. Bute is around top 20-30 p4p maybe and that's being pretty generous.

I do think it would have been a intresting matchup when Bute was regarded as a top dog. But there's alot more intresting matchups on the horizion like the winner of Carl-Groves and so on.

he said bute hadn't proved himself yet - fast forward some years later and ward is fighting edwin rodriguez. ward ducked, which was a dumb move, he could have made a nice chunk of change for getting bute's scalp.

As far as easy paydays go, it's no Edwin Rodriguez or corpse of Kelly Pavlik, but it'll do. :D

    Your argument?? What argument?

Ward was the #1 fighter in the division after winning the Super 6 with ease.

Ward said Bute needed to beat someone of note to get a fight with him.

    Bute fought someone of note.

He got the living **** beaten out of him.

Seems like a pretty cut and dried case.

And people like you would now be looking back saying "That win meant nothing, Butes was just an overhyped bum"

    Am I right?
