why didn't ward took the bute fight?

So what. That doesnt remove that he hadnt beaten a top SMW for around 3 years, had, had lots of time out of the ring, had eye trouble.
From the time Kessler last beat a top SMW to when he fought Ward, he had lost to Calzaghe also, whilst Bute in that time had won against overall better comp, including Berrio, Bika
So lets stop trying to get away from Bute being worthy

the whole point of the tourney was to find the rightful successor to calzaghe

Not sure about that, but I will go with what you say here for sake of arguement, but im not sure how a successor to Calzaghe was really what was being looked for when you note the pre tournament favourite was a Calzaghe victim

Bute was rated above them both at various times and had a resume every bit as comparable to what Froch had and what Kessler had done for the 3 years leading up to the comp. Why do you not grasp that? Ward didnt face Bute or try and do what Bute did which was travel

How is any of it childish? Kessler was unwell. I recall reading how in his fight with Perdermo it was noted how he was off and lost a step.
Kessler suffered double vision and was off for a long period of time due to his problem. That is unwell. Why not note that? I would note it if any other fighter was unfortunate to be having site problems

The thread is about why Ward didnt fight Bute, which you seem to be trying to brush over.
As said before, we dont know how Ward would fair travelling like Bute did and Ward hasnt taken or passed that test.
As for Bute not fighting anyone, were Bika, Berrio and Magee who have all held SMW titles nobodies? Was Andrade a nobody when he was a top 5 (think top 3) SMW when Bute beat him?

I dont view it that way. You are the only one who seems worried and tries to discredit Calzaghe and seems insecure. You have felt the need to bring him up a few times in this post alone, 3 times that I recall without confirming, when this is nothing about Calzaghe. It is about why Ward didnt face Bute, which also seems to make you insecure. The fact that you think Ward is a threat shows you are trying to blow things out of proportion as he is a long way off and not in an era to change that and not being interested to fight certain fighters for whatever reason doesnt help that either, ie Bute, Dirrell (friend)

Yeah, he's injury prone and had issues with his promoter. Still doesn't change the fact that he hasn't fought anyone of any significance in almost 19 months. And for that reason there is no way anyone can be certain that his skills haven't suffered, so his career is certainly on hold.

There was no "why didn't Ward take the Bute fight".

Ward wanted respect. Beating Bute wouldn't have gotten him respect when Bute wasn't getting any respect.

Bute got more respect by taking the Froch fight than any win in his career.

Bute should've busted down the door and said I want in on the super 6. Now we know why he did not join the Super 6.

i can't believe the amount of jokes there are trying to protect Ward from ducking the fight back then when it was the fight that needed to happen.

Bute had proven enough, but it was used as an excuse so not to take the fight. Ward let a real fighter do the work he was afraid of doing himself.

nothing will change these facts. but you'll never admit to what the coward pulled, even though you call other fighters "duckers" when no such thing has taken place.

they all come from the same country who play this same bull**** game of lies and excuses to try and protect the many cowards that they produce on a wide scale. truth is something they do not live by, delusion and fantasy is what they do. it will never change.

that's what they are... they're Americans. always making sure the story fits to suit.

same old, same old.

Johnson fought Bute and Froch. Bute beat him worse.

Miranda fought Bute and Ward. Bute beat him worse.

Bika fought Bute and Ward. Bute beat him worse.

Froch kicked Bute's ass, but don't get the script flipped- Bute earned the opportunity to fight Ward and Froch and at least had the balls to travel to the other guy's back yard to make it happen.

Too bad. Would've been the 3rd best win on Ward's resume if he walked into Bute's home town and took his 0.

Ward will only fight in his home town, with his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, etc.

Stevenson called Ward out live on HBO, but Ward refused to fight him, when asked if he wanted to fight Stevenson, Ward changed the subject. Stevenson said he would fight Ward at 168, but again, Ward refused to answer him.................

He should have took the fight with Bute while people were clamouring for it - the Andrade fight showed that Bute could be venerable and after the Super 6, Ward had shown he had what it took to school Bute. Instead they let it go by and Froch took the opportunity and resurrected himself by demolishing Bute. Ward should have struck while the iron was hot on that one.

He should have taken the Froch rematch in UK after Froch beat Bute. We already know Ward can beat Froch convincingly and it was the biggest money fight around for him at the time. Instead he decided to grandstand about how he didn't need to be forced to do anything and opted to take a much smaller money fight. Since then, Groves has dented Froch's status a bit which means a rematch would likely not make as much money as it would have.

You could even argue he should have taken the Dawson fight at 175 instead of 168. It gave his detractors an excuse to take shots at him and excuse Dawson for being drained, he would have won at 175 anyway. Moving up would probably have been good in the long term as well as there are good challenges at 175 with Kovalev and Stevenson around while he's instead at 168 with no major challenges and no big opponents around (maybe Ward-Groves would be marketable if Groves can beat Froch in the rematch).

No Bute fan has a leg to stand on when it comes to arguing for Bute. Bute is not built like that, that you can say anyone ducked or refused a fight with him. Froch beat his ass.
