I know it's customary to refer to people of either Arabic or Indian/Pakistani descent as "Asian" in the U.K., but there is a world of ethnic difference being conflated here with Khan and Pacquiao.

Sometimes, when people react like they are to you, its because they're uptight.

Sometimes, its just because you're a dumbass. Like this time.

Apparently wrestling is no longer that popular in south asia

But I do know in the past the indian wrestlers have beaten western wrestlers and were known for their physical strength:

His real name was Ghulam Mohammed. A Muslim of Kashmiri wrestling stock. Gama defeated all comers in India with the exception of the extraordinary Ghulam Mohiuddin, with whom he had a two hour draw. His toughest opponent ever, was the 6'9" 270lb, Rahim Bux Sultaniwala. His victories over foreign wrestlers include Stanislaus Zbyszko (Poland), Dr. Benjamin Roller (U.S.), Johann Lemm (Switzerland), Maurice Deriaz (France), Jesse Peterson (Sweden), etc.
Although he challenged many others including Japanese judo champion Taro Miyake, no one dared to come forward. Georg Hackenschmidt and Frank Gotch also declined to face Gama or others of his troupe. According to Nat Fleischer of Ring Magazine he was the only grappler of modern times who could have been a master of both Gotch and Hackenschmidt. Gama was employed by the Maharajah of Datia after the death of Gama's father, Aziz Pehelwan. Later he was patronized by the Maharajah of Patiala.

Lumping Pacquiao and Khan in the same ethnic group is a farking stretch.

And probably offensive to each of their heritages. Concentrate on the question of hand speed, not their race, please.

    Naturally gifted. End of story.

    Khan is not Asian.

Khan is middle eastern, indian whatever you want to call them.

Calling Pakistanis started in England and a way to associate them with a group that are usually associated with more positive stereotypes - Asians. IT is however a disservice to the Asian peoples.

Asians are Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Cambodians, Malaysians etc. Not Pakistanis, Arabs etc.

They're good at ping pong too. Clean up at the olympics. Something to do with hand eye coodination.

With Pac it's not so much speed as it is timing, power and intensity.

You are obviously ******ed. Have you ever been to school ?
It is more stupid to say Pakistanis are not Asians than trying to associate Khan with Pac in genetic terms.

Pakistan, India, China, Japan, Indonesia, UAE, Saudi Arabia are all in Asia and their people are all Asians.

Saying Pakistanis are not Asian is like saying the Swedish or the Norweigians are not Europeans because they are Scandinavians.

Asians are comprised of various Mangol and the Aryan tribes. Japanese and Chinese are Mangols where as the Pakistanis are Aryans that descended from Persia (ancient Iran). Even Europeans descended from the Middle East, so Khan has more genetic similarities with white Brits than he has with Pac. The Phillipines was once a Spanish colony and Pac may well be a cross of Spanish and Mongoloid Asian.

Infact we all human beings are children of black Africans who crossed oceans and in time changed into different shapes, sizes and colours.

There are so many ignorant people in this Earth feeling themselves superior than the others. We all are same, the environment, the bringing up, the diet, the physical activities, education, oppurtunities, deprivations make us who we are.

    What a long rant! Phewwwwwwwww

In ethnic terms it makes no sense calling Pakistanis Asians. They have more in common genetically with Arabs. No correction.. FAR MORE in common! And very little in common with Asians. To you - real Asians.

In many western cities you have Asian neighbourhoods known as Chinatown, little China etc. Malays, Koreans, Cambodians would blend in just fine, while Pakistanis would stand out like a Vegetarian in a Butcher's shop.

There are many positive associations connected with being Asian, such as tolerance, intelligence, peace-loving etc. I understand why some Pakistanis would wholeheartedly like to be called Asians, but it is not so. I am sure Osama Bin Laden (who btw. is probably hiding somewhere in Pakistan where he blends in) would like if everyone would see him as Asian rather than middleeastern.

    But no.

Thank you, did I say Khan and Pacman are the same race? I said they are both from Asia thats all.

All I was asking was about their handspeed.

Some people posting need to read the question.

What the hell are you talking about ? What has Geography got to do with politics and religion. Pakistan is in Asia and Pakistanis are Asians. So are the Japanese.

You think all Pakistanis, middle easterns are terrorists/war mongers ? By the same token are all Germans Hitlers ? Should we call Germans non-Europeans for what Nazis did?

You need to go to school boy.
