boxer like jim jeffries would oftentimes race people to 100 yard sprints while he traveled around fighting running it in low 10's. bob fitzsimmons would some times walk out 8 miles then jog back 8 or jog 10-12 at a reasonable pace as well as doing 8 or so miles sprinting then walking between telephone poles. john l sullivan would walk out 7 then 5 back and sprint the last 2.

boxers have been sprinting for quite some time.

as well running isnt just for cardio. when you exhale and inhale you dont add or remove all the air in your lungs only about 15-25% changes out and one of the most important things to heart rate is your breathing so when you run long distances you have all the time in the world to perfect your breathing and with perfect breathing your not just recovering for that 1 min inbetween rounds you recover every moment your arnt punching on top of it training your legs to support your body weight for a long period of time.

when your rowing swimming sprinting you dont have the time to perfect your breathing and that is why boxers run long distances.....but the good ones sprint too.

    word yo....i see the light

    Running sucks dont do it....

3*5 sets dead lifts and squats lift heavy and explosive!!!!!

ohh yeah its easier to shadow box while you jog then sprint as well.

Better than sprints because it builds stamina and if all the great champions of yesteryear did it and they boxed for 15 rounds worked for them it would be stupid to change a winning formula.

Don't ruin another thread with your childish, misinformed posts. I just said running isn't as important as you make it out to be. Running, sprints, prowler pushes, swimming, rowing and cycling are examples of great cardio. As a boxer you don't have to run.

I skimmed over your post. You think breathing for running is different to breathing for rowing and cycling?
