Why do boxers get given water and not energy drinks in the latter rounds of fights?

They are tired and need all the energy they can get...why not an energy drink? I only see them drinking water...

Because its a rule. Water only.... Last year Vegas changed the state rule which allowed the pro fighters to use energy drinks. I'm sure what they are allowed is highly regulated at this point.

They're only allowed water and electrolytes.
    No sugar.
