Why do boxing fans act like a loss means you are tarnished forever?

The funny thing is, some fight fans think Mayweather hasn't spent his entire career whupping the level of opposition Manny has lost to.

Like it's an honour to go in with an old Morales and lose.

Floyd beat much better super featherweights than that. Very very easily

******edness at it's finest. losing to morales is not a shame. meanwhile, avoiding your toughest oponents is more shameful just to preserve ones "0".

and why are you defensive as to think that i was thinking of floyd in my post? there are many fighters who does protect their "0" but it seems you find it too perfect for floyd to fit my post above.

Dropping losses in boxing is OK, as long as it's close, and as long as it's to, say a real elite opponent, at their very best. As in, Hall of fame worthy.

Ali lost nothing in losing to Joe Frazier.

Fan just come up with these arguments "why can't you lose" to defend dropping decisions to guys like an old Erik Morales, or drawing with Marquez, or half the chumps who have beaten Pacquiao

You're trying to claim Morales was the toughest opponent for Pacquiao when he faced him!?

He'd just lost to Zaheer Rahman

As for ducking toughest opponents, Pacquiao's last couple of years has saved Mayweather's reputation.

Manny's hand picked even more than mayweather since he became the "main man"

Youre a biased fool, Manny fought and lssed to eric morales before morales was beaten by rahim.
You are acting like Morales is a journeyman or something, he is a atg warrior.
Youre the kind of person that the ts is talking about.

Because, among other reasons, good fights are few and far between.

Its down to how you lose and then how you react.

For example Paul Williams getting laid the **** out like that WILL tarnish his legacy unless he comes back big, and avenges that loss.

Fighters who have no desire to avenge their losses creates a tarnished legacy. Imagine if Ali never wanted to rematch Frazier?
