This is site is 60-70% US posters, and only between 10 and 15% British thats the reason.

For that read to differing amounts the internet in general.

Look at the general opinions about Holyfield...the Klitschko's!!!

Khan gets less respect from the british fans, than the US fans in general, so thats an exception to the rule...

Yea, but it's not like we give the same amount of **** to the cholos coming out of Latin America like we do the brits.

Because a lot of americans,on here anyway, call them "eurobums".If not specifically directed at Lewis or Calzaghe or Abraham, the term which is ignorant to be honest is used too generally.

because the performances at the highest level more often than not do not match the hype.

we put too much value on our fighters. they also tend to be rather protected.

As far as Lewis goes, most people consider him one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.

According to a friend of mine who's a 65 year old boxing fan, in the past British boxers were very much inferior to their American counterparts and had a tradition of being badly embarrased when fighting US boxers. Example when Hagler beat Minter. Overall I think it's just fan rivalry, especially now that Britain has produced very good boxers now.

You just said it: "Latin America". I think the answer is in the America, and maybe also in the fact that there are fewer fan boys from Latin America on here compared to Britain.

I think some of the British fanboys here create this dislike for British fighters, by exaggerating their quality.

There's a few old school american fight fans who can't stomach the idea of a really good brit fighter (Lenox Lewis for example) but they're a minority imo. If there's a criticism of brit fighter's its that we tend to over hype them a tad. That can be annoying to non brits I'd imagine.
The general forum dosen't always make a distinction based on nationality when criticising boxers. Look at the **** Mayweather gets from his own countrymen.
Look at the **** we give Calzaghe and Khan.

Because there is like people have said above, an exaggeration of their quality. There are some good british fighters today. There are some British fighters on ATG lists. But you see some of the ridiculous **** people spout about calzaghe and haye on here and it throws everything out the window

EDIT: I notice the hate UK fans have for Khan. What's the deal?

Both Haye and Calzaghe are both seriously talked up here above any objective assessment. I agree and I am a British boxing follower, although I dont follow boxing with nationalistic tendancies so I am good judge of this...I am not a British boxing fan I am a boxing fan and boxing follower first and foremost.

He's chinny, cocky and very well managed. I personally don't mind him but the brits tend to dislike successful people. I think we're in danger of becoming a mean spirited people at times.

It is the yanks who don't respect them - Calazghe had to do twice as much to get the credit someone like Pavlik, Toney or Taylor gets. Hatton still gets questioned for some reason. Lewis gets respect but only after he put a beating on the big american heros Tyson and Holyfield.
