I am a Fan of Khans but once again it seems that the british fans do not back its most talented son right now . . . to bad

Best post on this thread. As you can tell im from britain and i dont think the US 'get' our fighters. they never really took to Hatton even after he unified the division, couldnt handle it when Lacy (who they previously raved about) took a beating at Calzaghe's hands which was a brilliant performance. All they say about Lewis is that he was losing on the score cards when the fight with Klit was stopped but dont seem to realise that there was half the fight left

what? hamed is possibly the biggest blockbuster hit in the history of british boxing. tickets to his bouts flew out the box office, he also did big tv numbers.

he certainly was a polarizing character, but with his attitude you're always going to be. plenty hated him, plenty loved him.

Lennox is a consensus Top 5 ATG Heavyweight and gets plenty of respect from most.

Naseem doesn't get respect from many because they wrongly believe that he only fought bums. Generally amongst British boxing fans, who understand that he actually has a good resume, he gets lots of love and respect, he's sort of a cult hero.

Calzaghe's 'stay at home' mentality didn't do him any favours, in terms of people's perceptions of him overseas. But you can't really deny he achieved a lot, despite the overly cautious match-making.

Hatton suffers from 'last fight syndrome', he got wiped out and now everybody thinks he's **** and overrated. After he beat Paulie everyone thought he was great. In time, opinions of him will become more in-tune with what what he actually achieved - which is actually a great deal.

you are right Lacy was only hype and proves nothing. I agree the win for Ward was not a Big deal because it only shows that Kessler was not as good as everyone thought.

People Hyped Hatton up to be the greatest thing since sliced bread and that floyd ducked him for years . . . then he got his ass handed to him.

Paulie is a Big win for Khan because he is still developing and at this stage in his career it is a solid win. Hatton was at his prime when he fought paulie and he only did what everyone expected.

Once again someone hating on A meer con . . . the most talented British boxer right now!

    Really?

Name one fight the average American watched and Hatton won.

Name one big fight the average American watched which Calzaghe fought.

Name one big fight Khan has been in.

Alot of people this side of the Atlantic would disagree with that. Personally i think Mitchell is a better all round fighter than Khan. And if he beats Katsidis, he could have a cult following like Hatton had

Yeah, but you do not see a leagon of fans following him around . . . I think he gets a lot more hate than love at home. Who has a worse attitude than froch or JC . . . these guys both were/are arrogant and full of themselves.

    debut ?

You can hardly expect fighters with unorthodox "ugly" styles like Calzaghe, Hatton, Froch and most of the recent better British fighters to be universally liked, especially when they are getting a lot of hype.

Those guys are always going to be divisive fighters.

If Britain was able to produce the likes of Buchanan(loved more in America than in Britain arguably wehn he was active) and 1973 uber conteh, then they would be better received.

There is always a market and appreciation for talented world level fighters with classic styles.doesn't matter where you come from.

hatton and bruno are really the only two to ever take such huge crowds to the states with them, even calzaghe didn't get anything like they did. it's a rare happening.

froch and joe maybe full of themselves but i think you're forgetting just how in love with himself naz was. he mad those guys look like shrinking violets. his entrance for the kevin kelley fight being a prime example.
