C'mon Slyk. You're a level above the more ******ed Klittards and you have a far better boxing knowledge than many Klit fans, but these generalisations are unfair. I think Ward is a fabulous fighter and many British fans share that view.
it's because of his constant cheating. if he didn't do that **** in the ring i'd give him his due credit. he was hitting and holding through out the kessler fight, headbutted, and hit on the break. the ref did absolutely nothing. he should of been DQ'd. and the yanks claim that froch cheated in the dirrell fight? ludicrous. he did nothing but hit and hold in the froch fight with steve smoger doing nothing about it. he was holding on for 10 to 15 seconds at a time through out. froch was looking at the ref to do something, but he didn't. he just let him get on with it. that's not fighting on the inside, it's cheating. these mother ****ers need to look at the boxing rule book. hitting and holding against dawson who was weight drained. they even had two california judges to make sure that if anything was close, they'ed be on hand to give it to ward. watch his performance against abraham, it's completely different. he actually fights clean. yes, he had been beaten twice and had no confidence, but at least ward beat him fair and squire. if he fought like this in every fight, i would have no problem with him at all. but he doesn't. the guys a ****ing cheat.
I find it hard to say Ward is better than Calzaghe because his single best win is over a faded version of a guy Calzaghe beat when he was in his prime. Does anyone really think Calzaghe would have lost to anyone Ward has faced? When you look at the light run Ward got through the S6 (which wasn't his fault, but all the same), it's pretty hard to over-praise him. Even his win over Dawson has been tainted by the weight issue.
What's with the constant Calzaghe bashing? Can you not respect that he like Ward was a great champion?
He challenges the notion of Calzaghe being a great 168 pounder. Ward has already surpassed Calzaghe's level of opposition in far fewer fights. Most of the Brits hating on Ward are just insecure Calzaghe fans.
i don't think hitting and holding to make sure they can't fight back is "destroying" anyone. and wlad didn't destroy haye either. anyone who thinks like you is a moron.
meh. I'm british and i dont hate him, i just think he's a bit of a boring and dirty fighter. can't deny he's extremely effective though, he's proven there's no one in his weight range who can match up with him.
I agree Ward definitely didn't have to overcome the adversity of fighting in another fighter's backyard throughout the tourney. But let's be clear on one thing: Carl Froch doesn't stand a chance against Ward regardless of where the venue is located. Froch had a very nice run in the tournament, but he had lady luck on his side for the better part of it. If Taylor kept his distance, he was going to win that fight, most people I know had Dirrell beating Froch in his own hometown, Froch lost a relatively close decision to Mikkel, and than he got taken to school in the finals against Ward. Ward is just a terrible matchup for Froch- he's too quick and too crafty. If they fought in Nottingham on a rematch, I'd favor Ward even more than the last time. To call Froch the "legend" of the super 6 is just silly man.
