Why do Brits want Calzaghe to retire so badly?

Boxers make a mistake of pushing it too far and end up with 4-5 loses on their records. That happens to 99.9% of boxers. Fans want Calzaghe to retire undefeated. Sure he can fight the young lions now like Dawson but it doesnt make sense to him financially, plus Dawson is not established like that just yet. If he loses he will be tempted to come back with revenge on his mind and might end up with 3-4 loses at the end. Its so much better to retire now after beating Hopkins and Jones, LEGENDS.

No not at all. In fact I said the opposite in the classic forum just last week, about idiots wanting their favourites (not Calzaghe by the way) to go on and on and ****ing on until they get brain damage. :huh

This argument really doesnt mean anything. China doesnt have any top boxers I know about nor does India. Whereas as little puerto rico has a lot of top fighters and Mexico clearly has more top fighters than the Uk even with only a marginally higher population.

 

Dawson should be fighting Diaconu before crying to fight Joe.

I don't think the Brits have much to worry about. Lennox Lewis, was a great champion Clazaghe is a great champion now. It has been quite a while since Lewis was the man to beat in the heavyweight division. Odds are they got someone in the pipe right now in some division getting ready to dominate.

Fair enough i'll take that back. As for Calzaghe retiring, i havent made up my mind if i think he should or not, I dont want him to go on too long coz his style doesnt age well and even in victory there were signs tonight he's declining, but my gut feeling is he'll carry on, hopefully against Dawson. We'll see.
