Why do commentators talk about mean intentions?

I have heard a few commentators talk about fighters throwing punches with bad or "mean" intentions.

If I was a fighter, the majority of my punches would have bad intentions. Not in a way to punch yourself out, but you want to get the guy out of there as quick as possible.

Why even mention it? If the primary aim is to knock the guy out - surely the punches will have big force behind them?

The only different reason I can think would be if it is out of the ordinary for a fighter to throw power punches early on, or somebody who likes to box an opponent to gain points.

    Any thoughts?

    OP,

Your post is full of dumb.

Throwing with mean intentions means the guy is actively gunning for the knock-out with every punch he throws. Quite different than just boxing, setting up traps, and seizing the opportunity if it comes.
