Why do de la Hoya fights make so much more money than any other fights?

Look at the audience in the Oscar fights - 40 thousand in El Paso for a bum like Charpentier, Christina Aguillera screaming with a black bra on in the Oscar-Mosley rematch, J Lo and Marc Anthony in Oscar-Mayweather... These people don't show up in the other fights so it has nothing to do with Oscar's boxing...

So...it's pretty much a celebrity event that draws in celebrity shot fans?

Because most boxing fans are romanticists. They think of his past glory, and for some reason remain in some cocoonic state of mind that he is still great and elite.

Then there is the Paris Hilton-syndrome.

And then there are those, who still thinks he is exciting to watch.

Kind echoing off BigReg, all of Hollywood attends his bouts. He is evidently good friends to the "stars"=MULTI-MILLIONAIRES. He can charge outrageous prices, know it's going to sell and then some, and rake it in.

Basically... Kinda Academy Awards night with the single nominee - and the Oscar goes to Oscar. But you gat to see a lot of beautiful women in there... God, I can't believe J Lo ( once a dancer for Janet Jackson) and Christina ( from the Mickey Mouse Club) are already mothers - maybe they are shot too.

:deal :deal :deal That's it. It is an "occasion" for the stars to gather and see who can spend the most money.

know boxers wants to get hit. the art of the game is hit and not be hit

are you going to say the same thing about pernall whitaker, sugar ray robinson, willie pep and co. they used try and avoid slugfest if they could

have you seen the vargas fight, the first mosley fight. or what about the quartey fight. he really had to mix it up to win that fight

It is timing and good advertisement. He will fight someone that is likeable and good at the right time. He is going to fight Cotto in a later time because they use that same strategy in the Fight Mosley vs. Cotto. Remember Mosley is 45% owner of Golden Boy Promotions.

Ahh....I can't stand it when celebs go to a big boxing match just to be seen.

I like when the celebs are true boxing fans, like Charles Barkley. I remember they interviewed Dustin Hoffman before DLH-Mosley I and he knew his stuff, talking about "this is only Mosley's 3rd fight at welter and he might not be as well adapted to the weight as DLH".

"You've got to be a real man to box or play football. Those are my favorite sports"- Barkley
