Why do Deontay Wilder fans conveniently keep ignoring fights where his power was exposed?

Many of those fans and fanatics, act like Wilder is some murderous puncher. Some even claim he has superhuman power. Whilst others go a step further to claim he has supernatural punching power.

They point to certain fights where Wilder knocked out certain opponents unconscious or brutally incapacitated them, especially with single punches. However, there are other fights where Wilder could barely even drop, much less KO certain opponents, even with double digit flush landed punches. Or he failed to totally drop those opponents. Or he did stop them, but less brutally than other guys who are considered to be less powerful.

For example, a shot, old Chris Arreola pretty much walked through everything Wilder threw at him for 8 rounds until he was forced to pull out due to an injury. Wasn't cleanly KO'ed and barely dropped with multiple windmill punches, including rabbit punches.

When Bermane Stiverne was still in his prime, he managed to TAKE all of Wilder's punches whilst going the distance in the first fight.

Johann Duhaupas LITERALLY, and I mean LITERALLY walked through over 500, flush, maximum powered / fully loaded up windmill punches without suffering a single knockdown after 11 rounds. Take into consideration that Duhaupas is a scrub who was dropped inside 6 rounds by a total feather fisted cruiser weight by a single punch. But managed to eat all the punches Wilder dished out, as if they were pastries.

I'm not trying to be harsh. Nor do I have a problem with a boxer failing to KO certain opponents. However, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. And when a boxer is held to an extraordinary standard, and fails to fulfill that standard, that boxer deserves to be criticized in extraordinary fashion.

To claim Wilder has supernatural punching power, or that he has the power to KO anybody with his right hand, especially with a single right hand punch, or that his power has surpassed everybody else's, but then Wilder fails to even drop Duhaupas with flush, maximum powered punches for 11 rounds after landing over 500 of those punches, disqualifies him / makes him unworthy from having his power rated that highly.

Yes, this may sound harsh. BUT, if you are going to make EXTRAORDINARY claims about Wilder's punching power, then Wilder has to provide EXTRAORDINARY evidence of his punching power being as high as is rated by some of his fans. And being unable to drop a scrub and a French Pastry Chef in Johann Duhaupas with 500+ flush, maximum powered punches in 11 rounds is evidence of the total opposite. Which is that his punching power is EVIDENTLY lacking and not that powerful after-all. Especially when this scrub was dropped by a feather fisted cruiser weight inside 6 rounds by a single punch.

Likewise, the same is the case with Eric Molina who has been stopped thrice in his career. Twice in the first round alone, before he fought Wilder. Only Wilder needed the most number of rounds + punches to finish off Molina (in least impressive and brutal fashion). It took Wilder a WHOOPING 9 rounds to finish off a totally glass jawed Molina.

Unless Deontay Wilder is LITERALLY, and I mean LITERALLY BLASTING AWAY scrubs like Johann Duhaupas, Chris Arreola and Eric Molina in ABSOLUTE SUPER QUICK TIME with EFFORTLESS ease, then Wilder's punching power has to be SEVERELY, and I mean SEVERELY questioned in terms of whether his power deserves to be rated that highly.

Some guys have excellent durable chins. I agree with your post. Wilder has an excellent counter right hand to be fair, but not the accumulative punching power of say a Povetkin KOing Duhuapas in 6, Kownacki KOing Spilka after 4 or even Arreola mopping the floor with Molina. He would have serious trouble with Jarrell Miller IMO.

Wilder's punching power is greatly overrated, as is his ability to TAKE a punch. He is probably the biggest FRAUD that has been perpetrated on the boxing public at this level in the nearly 40 years I have been following the sport.

Basically, his record is 95 percent stiffs and mediocre fringe contenders that ANYBODY should KO - and probably has!

Ten years, and his best opponents were aging, overrated contenders who had health issues. And yet, boxing fans take this bogus clown seriously! It just goes to show that PT Barnum was right, "there's a sucker born every minute."

I think you forgot the Charlie Z gym fight. The little 140 pound Charlie took numerous punches from Wilder without being KOed. Some punches landed when he was on his knees.

I agree to some degree. Wilder clearly hits very hard but he might not be the monster puncher he's made out to be. His KO's of Liakhovich and Szpilka are impressive but neither of these guys were known for their chins. Liakhovich has been stopped by 4 other people in his 7 losses, Szpilka is notoriously glass chinned. Liakhovich took 2 big right hands the 2nd one he was pinned to the ropes and took the full force of the shot as he couldn't roll with it as ropes stopped him from taking anything off the shot. Szpilka was caught coming it while throwing his own shot.

Molina took Wilder 9 rounds yet Molina was KO'ed in 1 by Arreola and in 3 by Joshua and it wasn't a case of him not being able to find the shots vs Molina, he hit him with a lot of hard shots throughout the fight and had him down earlier but his power wasn't sufficient to keep him down, he had to grind down Molina.

Stiverne went 12 rounds when he was in better shape in the first fight despite the rhabdo. In the 2nd fight he was 16lbs heavier and that effected his durability. Buster Douglas is another example of poor conditioning effecting durability. Fit he took the best of Tyson, overweight Holyfield KO'ed him brutally. And Stiverne again has been stopped before and in his previous fight had been dropped by Rossy.

One of the reasons I was looking forward to his mandatory with Breazeale was to see how his power held up against a guy with a proven good chin. I have a feeling he has trouble putting Breazeale away.

Wilder has good power, he is a TALL HW with long arms so he can generate some power for sure but i agree overall his power is overrated. He isn't the hardest punching HW ever or something like this.

Most of the HWs have some stunning KOs on their record like the Szpilka one for example. That's the game. HWs are hitting hard.

Wilder is hurting his opponents and then destroying them with some illegal punch tactics like windmills and rabbit punches.

There are a lot of names that took flush shots from Wilders right for 7-10 rounds without getting knocked out or even badly hurt.

As he was fighting mostly old fighters a lot of them were tiring during the late rounds and then going down / getting stopped because of being tired and exhausted.

Wilder is a Top 10 puncher in the HWD for sure but he isn't one or two levels above the rest, good power but no super human power like some are acting.

David HAYE and Murat Gassiev say he hits harder than Wladimir Klitschko.

Louis Fernando says he's a feather duster.

This honestly the main reason why Wilder, to me, is not this freak power puncher. The man was ripping shots at Zelenoff, full force. Dont even try and tell me Wilder was punching at half power or some nonsense. He was pissed and landing bombs and Zelenoff wasnt even wobbled. A freaking 140lb dude was taking shots from the heavyweight champion of the world - ridiculous. Still knocks out AJ tho

His other worldly power can manifest at any moment. It really is down to the demon conjuring up the energy. It could happen anytime from 1 round to 12th round. See devil worshipper Wlad against Eddie Chambers. Wlad literally taps Chambers and he crumbles to the floor such is the force of the energy.

Well, I'm sorry for you guys, seriously. You must be very full of hate in order to say that wilder's power is overrated.

Sorry, guys, I hope you all get better, sincerely.

The power is there youd have to be blind to miss it. If Wilder lands one of his bombs on anybody its going to atleast put them in some desperate safety mode, more likely on the floor. Thing is all those knockouts are from not top quality opposition, Not guys who actually think in the ring, know how to defend well or pick up on tells. These people are harder to hit, you get them to just stand there like that pirate tampon mascot your going to get hurt but these people dont do that they move, block and ride punches.

Wilder is like a machine gun, not overly accurate and will happily throw at head, arm or thin air. He will look to counter Fury, thats Deontays strongest point but hes losing rounds getting outboxed as he goes and hes got a list of people waiting to fight him who Box better than most the people hes faced before.
