His info is better than the rehashed stories on this site. Chris Williams bashes Pac. Dan Ambrose will bash Canelo. Next day, Chris Williams will bash Pac, Dan Ambrose will bash Canelo. Or you could talk about fighthype. Ben Thompson will have video of Floyd talking about his jet. Then a video of Floyd talking about his money. Them a video of Broner trying to imitate Floyd.
I absolutely agree. The guy is so self important and not a good jornalist. It seems like ESPN doesn't care at all about Their boxing section so no one notices or cares how terrible he is. Compare him to the "brand name" people who write their basketball articles, it is a joke. If he were writing for bball he would be a no name guy writing the recaps for games day in and day out, not one of the guys writing the headliner articles. He reports on fights with no personality or insight.
His "stories" are usually 3 or 4 days behind the real news. He's never broken a story in his life, ever. His chats are pathetic. People ask him questions about possible fights being made and his answers are always "I don't know", "I have no idea", "maybe", "probably". When ESPN puts him on tv he has zero personality, like a cardboard cut out. He looks like a slob and acts like one too. He continually disparages fighters like Rigondeaux, meanwhile ESPN has him ranked top 5 P4P in the world. If he were covering any other sport his behavior would be questioned and he wouldn't have a job. Imagine a writer for a sport insulting some of the top stars, it's laughable he still has a job or even calls himself a journalist.
Because he's the best fight scribe out there by a country mile, that's why. The best of the best. Who is there out there who even comes close to his level? Seriously? That's why ESPN have him on their payroll. It's the same reason why Showtime forked out a king's ransom to secure Floyd's services for their channel. The cream always rises to the top.
I'm sensing someone who suffers from ''Boy, how I wish I had that guy's job'' envy. I think Big Dan has a dream job too but I'm not bitter about it. It's hardly his fault he gets to attend all the big fights and mix with boxing royalty.
I think Rafael and ESPN's boxing division (minus Teddy Atlas because he's hillarious to me) is a big joke. Funny dude was butthurt enough to start a thread about Rafael. :verysad
Big Dan is the jewel in the crown of ESPN. A lot of the hate he gets is clearly due to 'Dream Job Envy'' and Anti-fat bias. He wouldn't receive a fraction of the criticism and hate he's subjected to if he was as lean as Gabriel Montoya. :deal 'Anti-fat bias refers to the prejudicial assumption of personality characteristics based on a visual assessment of a person as being obese. Anti-fat bias can be found in many facets of society, and the medias portrayal of obese individuals has often been blamed for the pervasiveness of this phenomenon. Anti-fat bias leads people to associate individuals whom they perceive to be overweight or obese with negative personality traits such as "lazy", "greedy", "stupid", "smelly", "slow", or "unmotivated." This bias is not restricted to clinically obese individuals, but also encompasses those whose body shape is in some way found unacceptable (although still within the normal or overweight BMI range)'
