There have been occasions where fighters have pulled out, supposedly due to injury, and then magically bobbed up days later on card that offers more money & better opportunity to them.

Someone pulled that stunt only recently. Had a contract. But got a better offer to fight about 4 days later.

Legitimate reason also such as failing medical. Could also be due to inability to make weight.

Joseph Kwadjo was meant to fight Murdock on November 19th last year. Had signed for the fight something like 6 weeks previously. He then withdrew claiming an ankle injury and magically bobbed up on the Mundine vs Mosley card 8 days later and fought Renold Quinlan.

Injury? Or better opportunity? I know which one most people favour.

They get horny and prefer to have a root instead of a punch up.

One reason a fighter might drop out is because they can't sell the tickets so they run the risk of not getting any money for what is ment to be a professional fight.

Its the same with any show .Promotors only put acts on that sell tickets. You see regularly shows cancelled due to poor sales. Boxing shows cost money to stage .Its not charity. Everyone knows today fighters need to sell tickets and more sold more money for them. They could always stay in the amateurs.

So if you were fighting and getting paid in tickets and a week before the fight the sales weren't looking good would you jump in the ring for nothing ? Anyway how many shows have you promoted? I know promotions cost money because I have done them. I'm not saying it's right or wrong for fighters to sell tickets I'm just saying that it might be the reason for fighters pulling out a week before a show.
