i mean, aint that what boxing is all about...drives me nuts when people give a challenger so much credit for fighting the champ :huh

makes no sense to me how someone can give praise to a fighter that's in the game for 1 and only reason, which is to become champ....

i would much rather give props to a champ, that takes on unnecessary challenges before big money fights....:good

Yeah I agree Freddy. What would be an example of a recent champ fighting an unnecessary challenge... Hmmm Would you say Amir Kahn fighting Maidana?

If there are fighters outthere who hasnt been afraid of challenges or giving people a shot, it would be Bernard Hopkins and Sugar Shane Mosley (even though Mosley avoided Berto in the last part of his career)

True, Hopkins and Mosley have no fear of any challenge. But as far as Mosley avoiding Berto :huh, I'm not sure I can agree with that. I remember they had a fight scheduled but Berto pulled out.

HUH?!?! I am a big Berto fan but they were scheduled to fight and Berto pulled out due to the disaster in Hati.

more mosley though....bhop made a name for himself fighting smaller guys.....he would act like a diva too after oscar made him a millionaire..but after he lost, he took that "no fear" attitude like most fighters do after they loose....

good thread. I dont get it either. we're the only sport where the best aren't expected to fight the best. It's pathetic really. I only give credit when a guy goes beyond what he's expected to do.

    True.
    Also true.

Fighter's have become more of an investment nowadays. Anytime a fighter in the catbird seat takes a chance that he doesn't absolutely have to, it is almost a surprise.

Cotto doesn't avoid ANYONE.. he is the number man in the sport when it comes to that..... Adamek is there too... then Mosley... Hopkins fights all but he still doesn't want to fight Dawson.. (not saying he has too)

Khan is good.. but I thought Maidana was his mandatory for some time???? If Khan were to take on Ortiz, then I'd put him in that list...

hopkins ?!?! are you serious ?

he avoided calz for 3 mill when they were both closer to their prime. plus, he avoided dawson like the plague. mosley i'll give you, but not hopkins.
