Grand Rapids boxing fans are like any other boxing fans. They recognize talent when they see it and Floyd has talent. But whether or not they support Floyd is based on whether or not they look past all the bull**** associated with Floyd, his career and his life. I am not from Grand Rapids, but I am originally from Michigan. I don't necessarily want to see Floyd lose, but I want to see him tested. I want to see him pushed to the limit. We know almost everything about Floyd. What we don't know is the quality of his heart and of his chin. In hindsight, it's pretty obvious that Floyd would have beaten guys like Margarito and Williams. He could have fought them when it would have meant something. I want to see him fight Manny not because I think Manny will win, but because Manny looks like the only fighter at 147 capable of tesing Floyd. I also want to see Floyd fight Sergio Martinez at 160. Five weight classes don't matter to me. Three traditional weight classes matter to me. With just two wins, Floyd can be justifiably rated with the pound-for-pound all-time greats. Especially if he comes out on top in a WAR.
Seems like a pretty fair post, with exception for the highlighted bit. I'm all for him fighting Martinez however you really expect a fighter who weighs 152 walking around weight to go up 8 pounds (after a gruelling training camp in which most fighters lose weight) and fight at 160? I'm willing to bet SERIOUS money that Floyd will not even weigh 154 for his fight with Cotto in May. - I think he will be around 151/152 max. That doesn't even make any sense whatsoever, what concession would Martinez be giving up? Martinez keeps saying he can make 154 and is willing to go down to 151 right? so make the fight at 154 thats fair. But you cannot have a grasp on how the body works if you expect Floyd to go to 160.
I want to see him tested as well, but I don't think that has anything to do with his so called lack of support in Michigan, or Grand Rapids specifically. Real boxing fans do want to see him tested. Every fight should be a test. I think Cotto is a bigger test than what he is being given credit for. I think Pacquiao is a big test. I think Martinez is the biggest test. We can not act as though Floyd was never tested though. The first time he was ever in a close fight (Castillo 1), people claimed he was exposed. IMO, he cleary won a hard fought, dirty ugly fight complete with low blows, and rabbit puches. He was also tested in the Judah, Mosley & Hatton fights as well. Remember when people were saying Maywearther was avoiding Mosley, then after the fight he was an old man? :rofl He has shown that he has grit and will to win. The man has dealt with adversity, and he has come out on top. I agree that he needs to fight Pacquiao, and I would love to see him fight Martinez. Mark my words though, he will get credit for a Pacquiao win, that is what history will remember more so than a Martinez fight, even if its at 160.
So let me see if I understand, you want him to lose because he hasn't given you anything, but he should, because he used to live in the same general area? Cool, tough to argue with that logic...:good
It is tough to argue with that logic! Huh you Wigger ****? Jonathon, Have you been a good boy lately? Been tending to the cows and the chickens on a regular basis?
Bill Gates already pledged his billions to charity instead of his children. What more do you want him to do? For starters, find a better example to the thread question. atsch
Pac was the top taxpayer in the Philippines the past few years and he's barely in the top 100 wealthiest Filipinos.
what good for the community has floyd really ever done? sure he's made it rain on some clubs, pay for g. hernandez funeral and given 100 grand to breast cancer in exchange for the postponement in serving his sentence. c'mon *****s, tell me. legal advice to gamboa don't count.
