The man clearly wants to be something more than a journeyman. And there's a reason why almost none of us are involved in boxing, never mind being involved in the pro ranks.

All I'm saying is that there's a reason why we're here and they're there (Pros).

If the man wants to be a professional fighter with some modicum of success. He should NOT be asking for advice here, from a bunch of guys who troll around and dksab. :deal

    Terrible idea.

It has to do with severe dehydration. There's only one man who can help you and that's Floyd Mayweather. He can medically supervise IV you at your own home with a doctor on site, you will go 12 hard rounds afterward...even running the full 12 rounds will not be a problem...and before you go on about it no it's not illegal, USADA / NSAC approve it 100%.

sparring and fighting requires great energy. That's why I think boxers are the fitress athletes in the world. I remember playing football and could run non stop for 90 mins and never feel tired. But then I'd get in the ring and 3 minutes seemed like a life time and everything is energy sapping

Its a combination of everything, first off mentally you have to have intense focus which tires you out, you are constantly moving and focused on your opponent, its very hard to relax when you start sparring too.

My suggestion would be to try and get as relaxed as possible and don't go out from the first bell herky jerky with tons of movement. Find your distance play it safe and work your way into it. Also more intense cardio helps, sprints etc

Not exactly - it helps to hear stories from others who have been in the same situation. Being in the boxing gym, and talking to a trainer is imperative, but also sounds like something that the OP is already doing. The boxing gym can be a tough, macho place at times - so to bounce experiences around somewhat anonymously with others who have the same interest and/or experiences can be good for the self-confidence.

Anyway, it seemed like a good natured thread with helpful comments. No one is under the illusion that they are Naazim Richardson trying to build this guy into a champ. Please try to resist the urge to be inflammatory.

    Who was inflammatory?

I'm telling him what the best course of action is to be. There's a REASON why we're here and the pros are doing what they're doing.

The man is clearly striving to be something big in the game.

And thus, asking for the advice given by a bunch of NOBODIES is definitely not the way to go.

He should go to a gym, or go to different boxing conventions/fights to get that kind of vital information, don't you think?

If I was him and I was striving to be a boxer, I'd definitely not waste my time with people on this board. Just saying.

It's all about efficiency and getting the right info. And the chances of him getting something of use here... is slim to none.

The chances of him getting something of use in a gym or a boxing fight... very high.

    You do the math.

    That's all I'm saying.

It's simple. Be around people who are in the game or ask people who aren't... what would you choose? :huh

No one was on his high horse? Did I ever compliment myself at the expense of others?

    Nope.

He's trying to be a PRO, he's not trying to have fun. Hello?

Actually he's made threads about having real fights, he's not just in the gym hitting the heavy bag. So you're wrong there.

Uh yeah. He's in a deadly sport. I'd definitely not want advice from my family in regards to this sport when I can get it from pros in a GYM.

He's striving to be something big, that's what I've been saying.

Yeah and I'm telling him. Getting advice from nobodies on a boxing forum will do him no good.

    There's a reason why we're NOT pros.

    :rofl

I don't understand how hard that is to understand. Not sure why you're salty about it either. It's like you think your opinion can actually attribute to his success. :patsch

What the OP asked about is a common problem when beginning to spar for the first time. A few of us have actually been in a ring before and are more than qualified to give our opinions on a subject like this. For some reason, his concerns must not be getting addressed at the gym so I see no problem with asking other people's opinions and a boxing forum is just as a good a place as any. He can take the advice for what it's worth. It's his choice.

Don't be silly. I have no illusions about my own opinion, and I think I was clear about that. My point was merely that sharing experiences specifically relating to first time sparring as an amateur is a valid way for this guy to realise that his stamina situation is in no way abnormal. That's just lending support - which is a positive constructive thing. Everyone on this thread was trying to be supportive.

I haven't read his other threads - was just responding to this specific scenario about his stamina concerns. I have less of an explicit knowledge of this forum and it's posters than you do though, that's for sure.

I know you like to pick fights, but I won't be drawn into it. I like to talk about boxing, but not to the point that I will let it become a vendetta.

I highly doubt any of us are nearly as qualified or as knolwedgable as the guys actually in a gym.

I dont want to see anyone being ****ed over because theyre taking advice from noobs. That's all

I'm not trying to limit anyone's talks or whatnot. I'm just saying.

Boxing is a very dangerous sport, one wrong move and the man could die.

It's just a little silly for him to be asking on a boxing forum (A forum where it's infested with trolls) rather than go to a gym with pros and ask for real advice there.

If I was boxing and I'm sure 99% of the people here would do the same as me. Just stay away from boxing forums and be around people who are actually in the game.

A lot of things that people say here, are frankly quite re****ed and I can say for certain that it would do nothing for him. That's all.

I don't want him getting infected with the idiocy that goes on here. He might actually listen to some of the stuff that people say here and get knocked out or something.

That's not something I want to see.
