    Exactly.

People can pretend the Benitez and No Mas fights didn't happen if they like, but they did - and he lost them, clearly, because his opponent fought a style perfected by Floyd Mayweather.

Of the great fighters in that era, Duran is the fighter Mayweather would have least difficulty with, IMO. Styles make fights and Mayweather is basically a fighter moulded from Duran kryptonite.

Hey go easy on JLC. That's Floyd's best win.

Duran wish he had Floyd skill....Floyd can get caught red handed doing illegal IV and he's still doing nothing....Duran wish he had that kind of skills.

It is a skill to be a good combination puncher. It's fused with the concept of timing as well as fluidity through assessing your opponent at the present moment - a part of being a skilled combination puncher means that you can do it to gain points, which means you'll be defensively responsible before and after.
A skilled combination puncher also adjusts the rhythm of the punches within the combo so as to catch an opponent out via timing.
A skilled combination puncher sets up his punches in a way in which allows him to be as defensively responsible as possible whilst executing the punch (which is not simply a matter of covering up, but also ring positioning) etc. etc.

Case in point - Jose Napoles.

Duran was a small fat man vs Benitez. Was in terrible condition. Let's not go there. Benitez offers a threat that Mayweather doesn't, that's offense and a fluid defence.

The real question is, What can Floyd do without the IV?

Is combination punching really a skill? I mean, just about any fighter can do it.

Any fighter can throw a jab. But are they skilled with the jab? There's at least 10 different uses for the jab.

Read my post which you quoted which makes clear that effective combination punching is a skill.

I love how people say that Duran struggled against Benitez. Duran was fat and that Benitez would have been Floyd's best win.

Duran beat prime Leonard. He lost to prime Leonard too. Holy hell guys Roberto Duran was beaten by Leonard. He must suck.

Your boy Floyd struggled against his first B level fighter in Castillo and then stopped fighting anybody in their prime that was good for the rest of his career.

    "Duran was fat"

No point debating with someone who just glosses over someone being totally bested by another fighter with that as an attempt at some sort of valid excuse.

Did you read the thread title? It clearly says "prime Duran". So yea the fat version was not the version we are talking about here.

Better skills. Different skills yes. But not the better fighter. Duran in Montreal was unbeatable. No matter how Leonard fought.

The last time I checked pbf was found innocent deal with it. Duran apologist like you kill me you play up all of his wins and skill and have nothing but excuses for his loses and flaws. The fact is pbf is a horrible styles match up for duran. Duran has short arms didn't deal well with movement and was frustrated when someone wouldn't fight his fight. He's also a quitter and pulled the biggest quit job in boxing history.
