Because he's not going to be able to do it consistently pbf would control the range of this fight. He has the length footwork reflexes to do it and ring IQ to do it.

Leonard literally ran for the hills in the second fight because he just wanted to escape with the W, especially after giving Duran a boxing match in Montreal which was based on the fight philosophy 'outpoint by fighting'. Yet still Leonard found a lot of success due to being able to really fight in spurts. Mayweather wouldn't have that same success, Mayweather is a pot shotter.

Anyway, Mayweather is worse than 'No Mas', he QUITS THE SPORT to avoid threats i.e prime Pac, prime Margarito, prime Cotto, prime Williams and more recently Amir Khan.

Pbf was 37 when he fought maidana past his best but still won twice. Pbf fought jlc for his first fight at 135 was injured going in and still won twice. You see the theme here?
