Would beating Byrd have added some major improvement to Lewis's legacy - it's doubtful. Actually, instead of fighting Byrd, Johnson or Ruiz he faced Klitschko and BEAT him. You all claim that Vitali went on to dominate for a short period so perhaps this win for Lewis is perfect way for him to end his career. :hi:

Not saying he ducked him as i think Lewis would have beaten him but Byrd would make Lewis look sluggish and not all that good for times in the fight.

What i am saying instead of fighting Johnson he should have fought Byrd if he wanted a credible opponent.

Steward said himself that Byrd wasnt good enough to beat Lewis, so therefore they didnt need to fight....okay if thats what you think but he then went on to sign a fight with Kirk Johnson.

It was a perfect way to end his career if you dont know how the fight ended.

Also it would have been better if he had rematched and beaten decisively Vitali. Ive also never claimed Vitali went on to dominate, i actually think Wlad is the better fighter.

And im sorry but Johnson is and always will be a nobody in the division, he bottled the fight with Ruiz and he has never beaten a quality opponent.

But i ask again is Johnson a better opponent on skill, resume than Byrd.

Chris Byrd had absolutely nothing on Lewis, nothing. Sure he might make Lewis miss with one or two shots but it wouldn't matter, he'd have been out of there inside of 3 rounds.

 

I never said fighting Williams was a great win.....when did i say this ol' wise one?

Also whilst a Vitali fan i now he will never go down in the record books as his resume is average to say the least.
