    8 million people

yet apart from Mitchell, Groves, Ryder, . who is there
there's only been Darren Barker in recent years who has been a world champion from London

they certainly underachieve in boxing considering the population

there seems to be many bums from London of the level of the likes of Wadi Camacho, Eric Ochieng, Larry Olubamiwo, Billy Morgan, ,etc

It's quite embarassing when you compare them to
    Liverpool - population 460,000
    Northern Ireland population 1.8million
    Wales - population - population 3 million

they produce much better boxers ^

Greatest British boxer of all time Lennox Lewis born and bred in London :hi:

Haye comeback, Groves, DeGale, Joshua, Mitchell, Whyte and plenty of others coming through... not a bad current state of affairs at all

Bit of a stretch to say Mitchell and Joshua are Londoners. One's from Es*** and the other's from Watford.

In Wales 99% of our boxers come from s.wales which is more like 1.5 m out of that we have got about 70 clubs with about 2 shows a week in the boxing season which creates a lot of competition with some 15/16 year olds having 100 plus fights so the boys that turn pro are at a very high standard. Competition breeds success!

Cos people are poorer up North and pro boxing has always been very much a working class sport.

If you're comparing london to Liverpool etc in terms of boxing and population then there's no point counting the 8million of greater london because that's not inner city. Most boxers will come from inner city areas.

    David Haye....

Going further back arguably Britain's two greatest boxers Ted Kid Lewis and Jackie Kid Berg.

So north is considered as a whole compared to london lol.

includes liverpool, yorkshire and manchester vs london, maybe people should stop comparing the whole northern counties to london and maybe compare it to the whole southern england.
