Little brother of mine you typed 10 pages of **** to convince me that Wilder's big punch is ordinary. I still don't believe. That said, you could be right and I could be wrong. But I doubt it.

Fortunately Valeuv is long retired. Wilder, quite seriously, could damage his hands banging with such force against Valeuv's skull.

I think that Wilder gets a lot of impact from the speed (volition) that his knock punches come with, and his follow-up windmills are actually pretty devastating because of the speed they come in one after another. Having said that ... the reason why people may be skeptical of Wilder is that he's doing this against opposition which hasn't been at a level to inflict a lot of damage on him in earlier rounds. His recovery against Ortiz was an exception - and credit to him. Also, most of the fighters haven't had the defensive skills to run down his stamina.

He has great power but someone will survive it. It already happened with Stiverne 1. He hit him a lot.

He does hit hard, very hard.

But as usual, things do get overrated both on here and in the general boxing community.

Again, his calibre of opponents doesn't help determine how hard he actually hits.

He stopped Ortiz yes, but couldn't drop Dauhaupas - who was starched by Povetkin.

Swings and roundabouts, he hits hard but so did AJ until he fought notably tougher guys.

What makes Wilder dangerous is that he can take his power into the later rounds and once he hurts his opponent he's good at finishing them. His straight right when he gets his leverage behind it can rock anyone, but very sturdy fighters aren't going to be knocked out in one punch regardless of who is doing the punching.

No...not in thatbspecific case where spilka ran into the punch and was in the process of lunging in with his own left hook when wilder iced him.

No doubt wilder is a huge puncher but thats not the greatest evidence for it. You only need average power to KO someone whos running into your shot while throwing his own

Show me a similar knockout from an average puncher and i don't mean a one punch knockout where someone gets up right after, i mean a knockout where someone was seemingly dead for a while and needed to get carried to the hospital in a stretcher, i know you can't.

It's easier said than done, knockouts like that don't happen with average punching power, period.

Wilder might have the most dangerous right hand in the division right now, but due to the way he whips it in he needs to get full extension on it or the power can suffer. He lacks the raw power or sharpness in combination to do half as much damage with any other shot or from any other range, hence fighters like Joshua and Povetkin causing more damage against common opponents with their own respective attacking styles.

He does have really good power and if he catches you with one you don't see, it's trouble.

His OVERALL power projection isn't that good though, he only really has the right hand.

It's one reason I give Fury "somewhat" of a chance because he only has to take one punch out of Wilder's arsenal and he has nothing else to worry about.

    And yeah pretty much this.

Joshua and Povetkin can damage with stiff shots, hooks, uppercut etc.

Wilder its just the right hand from the knees which isn't as easy to land

Look guys let's settle this!We either:

    A) Contribute money to fly Luis to Povetkin, Joshua and Wilder and take a punch somewhere and then compare, plus 3rd party judge to observe his recovery/reaction.

    B) Get the stated boxers to use the PowerKube punch meter from http://www.strikecoach.com/
Previously tested with UFC's Ngannou and Tyrone Spong (WBC #30)

Come on Luis... go take a punch from Wilder and the other top boxers and tell us who hits harder.

We can make it safe for you:

    - You will wear a Kudo 'SuperSafe' faceshield helmet to protect your face
    - You wear a large size foam headguard over the faceshield
    - You cover your face with 16 oz gloves

    - Wilder gets 12 oz gloves and will hit you as hard as he can

I don't need to get hit by anybody. I've seen professional boxers, or more specifically, Wilder's opponents being able to take his punches fairly well. And that's what's relevant here. Since they are you know, pro boxers that fought Wilder and other heavyweights who hit hard.
