Why do many fans feel Wilder and Fury deserve a 50/50 split for fighting AJ

Manny Pacquiao received 40% to Floyd's 60%. That's Manny Pacquiao. He received that because that's how it works. No, Fury and much less Wilder deserve 50/50. They deserve less than 40% to be honest, especially Wilder. He needs to stop crying and realize they attract much less than Joshua.

That doesnt really answer the question does it. But then thats what Wilder fans do when asked a real question they dont answer it and just start calling Anthony Joshua names. To be fair i think you can stop doing it now anyway as everybody now knows who the ducking chicken is. Hell Wilder even dressed like one for the Fury fight.

Neither guy deserves 50-50 or close to it. The fight between them was supposed to show us all how they are on Joshua's level and that failed miserably. Didnt do bad numbers at all, more than enough to stop people laughing at them for it but we can still laugh at their predictions and projections as they were well off the mark with those. But we knew they were outlandish calls as soon as they said them.

Wilder cannot be called a PPV star, the arena looked and sounded like it was full of Brits that was the Fury show that night, Wilder never done a PPV before and if he fought Breazeale next hes back on normal TV so how can we call him a PPV star? It was only a PPV because of Fury.

Wilder is on Dillian Whyte’s level of popularity, maybe even less! He needs a big name for it to be a PPV, he couldn’t get in there with a bum and sell numbers like Joshua has done.

Well if Fury refuses the Wilder fight and Wilder takes on Breazeale we can match up his numbers to Joshua's when he faced Breazeale. Wilder fans tell us he is a PPV star and deserves 50-50 with Joshua so surely he can prove that by earning the same as Joshua did. Sounds fair enough if they are claiming Wilder is just the same as Joshua. And if ive took it all out of context and Wilder fans are not saying Wilder has the same pulling power as Joshua then why the **** are they saying 50-50?

These kind of public financial arguments are the most tired in all of sports. It’s used as leverage from the fighters to get public perception on their side.

But the business (economics) of the industry are a totally different kettle of fish than the rankings and who ‘deserves’ what. In an ideal world all fight deals would just be done on the mandated splits in my opinion. But the economics don’t work like that.

To a promoter it looks like this: Band who normally plays a mid size arena in their hometown all of a sudden says that they are booking Wembley Stadium. Everyone knows that they can’t sell it out, but it turns out that they want Foo Fighters on the bill too. At that point everyone knows it will sell out and be a good ticket - but Foo Fighters promoter is like “wait a minute - we can sell this place out every time out. This would be our show. This other band has no right to sell tickets on our name and try to tell us what percentage of the gate we are getting. They can go back to their small venues for all we care. If the show happens it’s our show and we pay them”.

Simplistic maybe, but the politics of boxing and the business of promoting are VERY different things - and when these negotiations go public it is usually the lesser value fighter who puts the info out there to try and get the public opinion to affect the promotional economics.

This would be as big if not bigger than any of AJs fights to date so he could expect a pay rise. Similarly for Wilder / Fury.

Conversely, although arbitrary, 50/50 seems a fair split given they're bringing titles to the table (not Fury?).

In the end, the most important driver is money. As has been reiterated over and over, boxing is a business. This will be it's demise but regardless, that has to be accepted . In that case, a 50/50 fight is not fair on AJ as he will get paid the same for more risk while giving his opponent a career high pay day.

This is how the conversation will be going on in the back rooms. Wilder and Fury's fight has been a master stroke gaining them much more negotiating power. The numbers men will make the best deals possible but if AJ says he'd prefer to crumble a tin can for similar money, then you can't blame him. He has the refs and judges in his corner so he's a very hard man to beat, which may be a consideration for Wilder and Fury.

Looks like fury and his team are speaking to Eddie and warren is out of the loop. Hearn says 50/50 not been on the agenda from fury team.

Confirms he will bid for the fight if it goes to purse bids.

As I have said several times on this topic.. WHY is this even being discussed on a boxing forum?? I couldn't give a single damn about who earns what, or what 'my' fighter should get in the way of percentage. I am a boxing fan, I am not a fan of their respective bank balances, and neither should you lot be. It's nonsense.. and to the promoters.. please spare us all the talk of financials.. just make the fights and tell us when, thats what I care about.
