Boxing doesn't need protection, especially not from canvas rolling and molestation, eye gouge knockouts and testicle rimming activity.

I've boxed and wrestled all my life. I was an NCAA qualifier in wrestling. I've trained with some of the UFC champs and contenders. I just don't agree with the more skilled part. Everyone has to know more techniques, but most of those guys are lack-luster at everything. I'm hardly afraid of the kicks or punches they throw, and in particular most are not good at wrestling or jui jitsui.

In UFC someone can become a champ in 10 fights or less and have only fought for a few years, starting maybe age 20. In boxing and wrestling and all the other pure sports you have to start as a kid and go to tournaments with hundreds of people from all over the world. Just no comparison.

Most (Elite) MMA guys have done one of the base MMA disciplines (wrestling, striking, sub grappling or BJJ) since they were a kid. Usually wrestling. Look at the current champs:

HW - Cain - Wrestled since he was a kid
LHW - Jones - Wrestled since he was a kid
MW - Weidman - Wrestled since he was a kid
WW - GSP - Karate and wrestling since he was a kid
LW - Henderson - Tae Kwon Do and wrestling since he was a kid
FW - Aldo - BJJ since he was a kid
BW - Cruz - Wrestled since he was a kid
FW - Johnson - Wrestled since he was a kid

None of these guys just started MMA training at age 20 without a background in something.

I'm not saying their more skilled than champion boxers, it's apples and oranges. All I'm saying is it's incorrect to think some guy without a background in any combat sport can just start training MMA and be UFC champ in 10 fights.

I will only half-way agree with your point. I really don't think we've seen much of what the sport has to offer until the current crop of kids training come up, so probably in another 5 to 10 years. I've seen a lot of kids training at the gyms and they are going to make the current crop look like amateurs. I'm pretty impressed with Jon Jones though, I think he is representative of where the skill set is going.

There are plenty of scatterbrained fools and insulated elitist douches in both sports. If you can't appreciate bith sports, then maybe don't discuss them. All this dumb **** about "MMA is homoerotic street fighting for skinheads" and "boxing is sissy pillow fighters who would get choked out in a real fight" just goes to illustrate the character of the speaker, not the sports they dislike.

Both are beautiful ballets of skill and athleticism, strategy, and combat. Boxing has much more history. MMA is more in its evolving stages, and we get to watch it develop and evolve right before our eyes.

Neiher side gets to play victim, there are enough antagonists on both sides. Meanwhile thise who appreciate artful combat will just enjoy an appreciate. The rest of you can pick a side and look stupid.

Rogan loves boxing. Is your stance so weak that you have to lie to bolster it?

Let's be more specific and talk about the UFC, because Pride FC and many other promotions were never really anti-boxing. The UFC promotes itself as a rival to all other combat sports. And also promotes itself as being a "taking over" rival set on crushing other promotions within their own sport as well. Their business model is to trash their own MMA competitors as well as other sports, they are anti-coexistence which is funny because before the UFC got big, it clinged to other combat sports. Infact, The Ultimate Fighter show which popularized the UFC, only succeeded because the show came on after WWE Raw. The problem is the "takeover" promotional propaganda has indoctrinated the fans.

No other company has this approach. Even look at WWF wrestling when it was at its peak 1999-2001. The WWF never insulted boxing, promoted against it, or trashed the sport. Infact, boxers even participated in WWF PPVs. Why? Because the WWF never promoted itself as a rival to boxing. The UFC on the other hand....:verysad. I used to watch MMA a lot 3 or 4 years ago but stopped once Zuffa started buying up all the other promotions. The UFC is an organization figure headed by Dana White, loud mouth who has become bigger than the fighters and that ego and arrogance of his rubs off on the actual fanbase.

I watch both and I think it goes both ways... a boxer can't go into mma and ssucceed without first cross training. I do think some boxers could cross over to mma and do well though with some cross training, but iI doubt very mma guys could switch over to boxing and find succsess. This is because mma is a hybrid sport, you can excel in one and area while being so so in others and Find success.

Cross Training - Great term man can you elaborate on that :think

Or should I do that for you; try Jui Jitsu, Wrestling, Muay thai, Judo, Kick Boxing, Karate, Luta Livre and finally Boxing

Do you think every boxer has some sort of inherent right to excel in these sports with a bit of "Cross Training" just because he's a boxer

    Dear me :hi:
