In both sports, fighters gets punched at the ears so how come i have never seen any boxers have cauliflower ears and almost every mma fighter does?
    it looks messed up.....
another thing i noticed is that majority of MMA fighters always have some sort of tattoo on their body. and the tattos are usually covering their entire back or their arms and it looks stupid.
i have never seen a boxer except kessler that has a large tattoo.
there is no stupid wwe entrances with fireworks, no stupid biker tattoos and no ******ed commentary.

i think that just shows how much classsier boxing is compared mma.

Cauliflower ears is a product of wrestling generally not getting punched in the ears if i'm not mistaken. I know when my brother was wresting in high school many of the wrestlers on his team and other teams would get cauliflower ear along with ring worm

Boxers wear headgear when they spar & if they get it after an actual fight, surely it's taken care of right away.

MMA fighters don't wear the headgear when they spare because it's uncomfortable. All that rolling around on the ground ****s their ears up, which results in cauliflower ears. They don't seem to bother to take care of it either

But boxers do get cauliflower ears tho if you look hard enough

Boxers are never tattoed? Chico and Manfredy come to mind.

Why hadn't Thompson had that ear drained at some point before the fight? That thing was a stoppage waiting to happen.

Cauliflower ears come from a cut to the ear, and the clotting collects underneath in the perichondrium (the tissue surrounding the cartilage). Then the cartilage comes away, meaning it doesn't get nutrients, as I understand it

It happens more commonly in rugby/wrestling, as you are more likely to suffer cuts to the ear. That can be the only explanation.

All that grinding to the ears causes it. Look cauliflower ears up on wikipedia.

Plenty of boxers have it tho. Calzaghe has it. Oscar had it after the Forbes fight but prolly had it drained right after. From now on just look at every fighter's ears & you'll notice alot of boxers have it. Just not as bad as mma fighters

it's caused because holds around the neck n things. it's broken cartilage, so if u keep bending ur ears n stuff n roughing them around, u can get it

just a tip for everybody. u can change ur ear shapes, especially as a child. so when u have kids, make sure that their ears r tucked next to their head when they r laying down. or when they wear hats, make sure that the hat isn't bending the top of the ear down because it can permantly stay like that if u don't keep n eye on it

    This is very true

My dad had to have corrective surgery as a kid, because he lay too often with his ear tucked in and it stuck out, and he looked stupid as a mother****er

Josh Barnett is a world class wrestler. He doesnt have cauliflower ears because he gets them cleaned up and syringed. He said this himself. Most seem to think its some kind of badge of honour. It just looks ugly and simply means you havent taken care of your body correctly.

Tattoos are irrelevant. They exist both in boxing and mma and are down to the individuals themselves.

The cauliflower ears look horrendous but are caused due to wrestling. Not all in MMA have it though as shown by the Barnett example above.

I wouldn't say boxing is more classy due the entrances and whatnot. In terms of comparision with the UFC it certainly is but the aura that surrounded Pride FC was unreal. Now they made their shows look real classy. :smoke

I still prefer boxing mind you.

Yeah. Dana White was impressed with it when he took Liddel over to Japan to lose to Rampage Jackson in a tournament. He was obviously too imcompetant to reproduce it and the rest of MMA are copying a bad copy. :patsch Damned I miss Pride.
