This is one subject people never approach in the right way.

Floyd has shown us his top class skills.

But being in the top 10 or 20 is about what everyone else did. You can’t just turn a blind eye to over 100 years of the sport.

He did enough at 130 to warrant easy inclusion into the Top 10, almost certain inclusion into the Top 5, and a decent case for being the very best of all time at that weight. Yeah, he didn't fight Frietas or Casamayor, but he defeated a fighter who holds victories over both of them and handled Corrales far more easily than anyone else did. Plus victories over Chavez, Famaso and Genero Hernandez, and a streaking Manfredy are nothing to sneeze at.

But since then, he hasn'tr stuck around any one division long enough to really establish the type of work needed to warrant inclusion into any list. Hopefully that changes in the next little while with a victory that I think is likely to occur against Mosely next week, followed by some more nice wins at the weight. We'll see how it goes.

At 130 floyd is beyond a shadow a doubt a great fighter. Some here won't like it but in my opinion he is the best i have viewed there.

Above that he has work to do, i can't be bothered going into a long arsed post so simply put i think he has the potential to be seriously great but he needs to prove that against the best out there. Mosely is a good start, pacquaio is a must and i would love to see if he gets past them 2 a serious challenge and look to win the middleweight title.

To be great you need to dare to be great. Eg put yourself in fights where you are not certain to win. Its over to you floyd

Exactly this - at 130lbs, 135, 140 he's great. At 147 he is very good but not great. Leonard, Robinson, and all the other true WW greats stop him or abuse him. There's no shame in that.

At 135lbs I'm not sure i would guarantee anyone to beat him besides Duran. That fight duran would KO him and it wouldn't be competitive.

in fact even in the 90s floyd could never have fought ta 147 with DLH, tito, forrest, mosley, and other down there.

    Boxing fans got cheated.

The fighters and their camps got to milk it for all it's worth and make so much money by fighting other guys and dangling the carrot in front of fans, but we the fans got screwed (and so enabled their bull****).

Personally I think a fight in 2010 would have been similar, but at a faster pace. Certainly a better fight than the disappointing one we got.

He is more of a point scorer, not much of a fighter. In a street fight Pacman shatters his jaw.

I agree that Duran would probably beat Floyd, however i find these comments always funny "it won't even be competitive" not every match Duran had in LW was blowout.but against maybe GOAT 130 pounder it would have been?who was extremely fast, great defence and fast legs etc.. You could be true, but i bet Floyd would have given Duran fists.
