why do most talented boxers nowadays have poor punch resistance/ glass jaws?

    any one care to explain
    gamboa-waiting to be KTFO
Lucian Bute-proved his chin last night
    miguel cotto-badly beaten by margerito
    Amir khan-smashed and exposed
kelly pavlik-stunned,hurt and disorientated by the grandfather of boxing
will we ever see a real P4P King?

Bute, Khan and Pavlik are not that talented.

Cotto's defeat was nothing to do with his chin.

Gamboa has yet to even be hurt by anything other than an elbow, knockdowns do not mean you have a bad chin.

It can't be all bad though, if you just look at the guys these three were fighting.

    Andrade - great chin/punch resistance

    Margarito - great chin/punch resistance

    Hopkins - great chin/punch resistance

edit: oh right, we are talking seemingly superior technical boxers.

Cotto seems to have more of a stamina issue, while Pavlik just leaves his chin out in the air sometimes.

I can't really comment on Bute; just seen a wee video of the last 20 secs of his fight last night (thats all).

Khan is deffo a glass-jawed chump.

Gamboas chin is unproven one way or the other
    Bute, good chin
Cottos KO wasn't a "chin issue" in the slightest
    Khan, yep chinny
Pavlik was stunned (not floored or KO'd) by decent punches during a 12 round schooling - it happens!!

Except Khan all the rest showed a good chin.Bute,Pavlik and Cotto took heavy leather and Gamboa has been KDed by an elbow and c couple of flash Kds.

I honestly believe it's because when you are an extremely good boxer you are just not use to taking punishment. The people with great chins are just the ones that are used to getting punched in the face. It's like a shock to a great boxer to take hard shots and that's why they go down.

He's a defensive wizard that didn't take too many flush power shots in his career. He doesn't get hit with too many quality punches therefore, he shouldn't be placed in the same category as Andrade or Margarito whom continually, openly put their chins and resistance to the test !

Gamboa has been put down for a total of about 2 seconds due to a flash KD off a flush hook and an elbow straight to the jaw, both of which he shook off almost immediately and showed no signs of wear in the moments afterwards when the action resumed. The other was not a legitimate KD at all, anyone who's seen the fight will tell you the same. He got tangled up and tripped over the opponent's feet, and the ref who was likely suffering from Down's Syndrome called it a knockdown.

Jesus christ, What the **** is wrong with you?
Just getting knocked down or hurt in a fight means you have a glass jaw?
It's a fight for ****s sake, someone has to get hurt.
