Why do Pac and Mayweather get so much hate

I can understand how fans of fighters can be annoying but both Floyd and Manny have done more then enough in their careers and have beaten and dominated top level competition for years to earn the praise. They are both nearly 20 year veterans of the ring and have done so much in their time frame.

I see posts constantly bashing Pacquiao and/or Mayweather. People saying their legacy is in question, that they cherry pick, and that they are overrated. If you are a true fan of boxing and can't appreciate what Pacquiao or Mayweather have done, then you should not even be a boxing fan. It honestly seems like many people just started watching boxing over the last few years and saw Pacquiao get knocked out or see Mayweather get rocked or bloodied and act as though they are overrated bums. Truth is, these 2 men have done things that nobody else will do and have dominated and demolished big name fighters for years. Say what you want to about how they are outside the ring, but to downplay their abilities and accomplishments inside the ring is beyond ******ed. The only thing that pisses me off about them is how they BOTH were equally responsible for not fighting each other. The best thing about them, is how they constantly over years have beaten the odds and dominated boxers that they supposedly had a chance of losing too. I also respect how after most fights they are both gentleman and classy and aren't like a Donaire or Rios.

It reminds me of how people treat Roy Jones Jr. People actually act like he only started fighting in 2000 and got knocked out by the first punch that he actually got hit with. It's like people ignore the rest of his long career and don't understand why he was so popular and how good he was. Most people seem to go on boxing rec and pick apart his resume without even seeing or knowing who the fighters he dominated were. The exact same thing is happening to Pac and Mayweather.

What's most amusing is that people are already making might high claims for Rigo after one good win. Why do fighters like Pac and Mayweather who constantly did bigger and better things and have been doing them for much longer get picked apart, but a fighter like Rigo who still has a lot to prove get praised to the heavens. It was a great win, don't get me wrong, but people praise it then every fight Mayweather and Pacquiao has had the haters want to make every excuse in the world of why it wasn't a good win. Boxing fans seem to be ass backwards nowadays.

Ok. I agree that sucked. But it doesn't change the fact that neither one is overrated and have both done things nobody else will do for a long time, if ever.

What they did was **** us over. Know how many Floyd PPV's I've bought, gone to watch him spar etc?

Look, I really appreciate Pac as a boxer though I'm not so much a fan of him, but Floyd is near enough my favourite ever, but neither one of these ****ers stepped up and gave the world the fight that needed to happen, instead it was a long line of excuses one after the other from both of them

As professional boxers they should be ashamed that they were both content not to fight their biggest rival because we the fans would still empty our pockets to see them fight cast-offs

you SHOULD be ridiculed if you don't do it, because it's not something that should be allowed

Trust me, I agree with you. It should have happened. But still, as far as their accomplishments inside the ring otherwise cannot be questioned. Contrary to what people on here think, they have dominated top level competition for years and have done it in completely different ways.

Yup I agree, they are both ATG fighters who have done some amazing things across multiple weights against some very accomplished opposition (most of which was south of 147).

But at the end of the day people will always look at them as the two guys who avoided eachother because at the end of the day people will remember you for your resume and who you fought, and who you didn't, and this is why they get the hate

IMO they probably don't get enough of 'hate' for what they did

HOWEVER both of them are really a pre-cursor to what the fighters of tomorrow will be like

You can already see the same career progression with Broner / Alvarez, especially the latter

Very very well marketed and matched to make the most $$

This is the responses I'm talking about. They are both towards the end of their great careers and people talk like they have been marketed and matched to make the most money their whole careers. Do you people honestly think that aside from each other, they have avoided the biggest fights and dangerous opposition out their. Hell Pacquiao went on a killing spree where De la Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, and Margarito were all supposed to destroy the asian midget yet he defeated them all. I swear, I don't get boxing fans.

Because real fans no Pacquiao changed once he got De La Hoya, did I tell him to drain opponents and bring 140 guys up to 147? Is it my fault that I know Hatton was suicidal? If I were a casual I would say Cotto, Margarito, Hatton, Mosley, and Oscar and say wow but I know the truth.

Fighting a Margarito who had the **** beaten out of him and caught cheating at 150 for the 154 belt is one of the most disgraceful moments in boxing history, if you don't agree you are a *******.

Because a guy like Rigo can accept blood testing from his opponent with no problem and then proceed to put on a boxing lesson proving again how little impact the blood testing demand would have effected the biggest fight in boxing history yet Pac was allowed to duck the fight because of it.
