Its all jealousy. They don't think he deserves the props he is getting. Its kinda like my partner Lara. When people give him props, someone has to mention Molina. It comes with the territory. When you are making noise, haters have to down you. Its their job.

Good examples. Sometimes it can backfire on you. Look at Bojado vs. Leija, or Montiel vs. Johnson. Young warrior vs. old pro. There's nothing at all wrong with a young gun struggling against an old pro. That's a testement of the vet, not some bad knock on the pup.

Their fights that could of made them bigger that's why. If Broner won that fight convincingly there will be nothing to look back on him. Like Floyd, if he would of won the Castillo fight convincingly he would of been a bigger fighter, because no one has ever come close to beating him or Manny would of been way greater now if it wasn't for Marquez and the same for Marquez too if he would of gotten the decisions on Manny.

Those fights very well did make them better. Fighters need to be tested, dig deep and overcome, not just blow out the competition. A young fighter needs to have a tough test or two on the way up.

It certainly doesn't prevent him from being great by any means. He's improved since then, and has a lot of potential.

To be great, though, he has to start fighting (and beating) better opponents. And he doesn't have much feasible competition left at 130 (aside from Uchiyama, and the fight won't happen because he won't leave Japan, Broner won't leave the US, etc.)

If he beats someone like Gamboa at 130 before moving up to lightweight and beating somebody like DeMarco, he'll rightfully earn a P4P spot and be well on his way to greatness. Right now, he just has the potential to be great; it's difficult to say if he's great right now due to the level of competition he faces.

This. Why are people all over this guys nuts and he hasn't done anything? He hasn't looked particurally special either. Yeah he's athletic, and... what else?? A lot of other fighters are athletic. It takes more then that to be great , the dude tries to be a mayewather clone and pretty much fails at it (though he acts like a clown so he gets that part right). I see nothing particularly special about him , at all.

well said man, this fight was a great learning experience.

I've typed this out a million times with different variations on similar threads so i'ma just copy and paste from my last time posting it:

This was a young kids first step up in opposition and it was levels beyond what he was fighting at the time and on the big stage for the first time......most prospects struggle with someone along the way, actually many take an L, see Pac and Joe Louis..... no biggie this was a great learning experience, he now knows what's needed to beat a guy with PDL's style and he has vastly improved since this fight. He would destroy PDL in a rematch that he would approach much different stylistically and not being as reserved offensively now that he knows he has the power and ability to spark out top 10 fighters.

PS: Escobedo coming up is a more difficult fight than PDL, he's not quite as tenacious as PDL but he's quite a bit bigger than Broner and he's a more skilled fighter than PDL. He took a prime Katsidis to a SD at LW and has fought most of his career at LW. This escobedo fight is a good gauge to see where Broners really at now.

In order to be considered great, a fighter must achieve great things, and Broner hasn't done that. He has yet to face a truly elite fighter, and his biggest win so far is a gift against PDL, so of course people are going to bring that up. Also, his **** talking and the racist attitude he's shown isn't going to endear him to fans.
