I see of morons on here talking about "Mayrunner" and all this **** and Im just curious as to ther knowledge and understanding of the sport. When a guy is constantly on his toes. moving around the ring and constantly staying out of range so that there be no contact, this is a startegy to utilize the ring, so he can keep his opponent off balance and attack from different angles. However if a guy did this excessively all night so that hardly no punches are thrown and no contact occurs bewteen the 2 fighters then I could see you calling him a runner (look at the last round of cintron angulo) However Mayweather in his fights uses DEFENSE. He either stays in the pocket, or on the ropes, and rolls, slips, blocks, or ducks away from his oppenents punches while countering. He's right there in range to be hit, he just has so much skill that they can't find him. People started saying that dumb run **** after bthe DLH fight just becasue they wanted to see a barbaric brawl instead of high caliber boxing skills. DLH had mayweather right there in front of him to be hit on many occasions, and he flailed away and mayweather made him look silly with his defense. Defense is not running, is part of the skill set needed to be an elite fighter. If you don't appreciate maybe you should find another sport. but then i don't know, all sports have defense after all. What good would a sport be without it. What if in football they just handed the ball to the running back and no one tried to tackle him? What if in basketball guys just stood around and let the opponent run in for easy dunks and layups all night? For my European brethren, what if in soccer there was no goalie and the teams ran up and down the field unopposed kicking the balls into empty nets. Would anyone wanna see that? I think people need to start taking the time to understand the sport better and appreciate skills instead of whining and complaining becasue 2 guys don't stand in the middle of the ring and swing away. those are the type of fighters that usually end up with brain damage later in life, and those same fans that cheered them on will be no where to be found to help take care of them. Boxing is science of hit and don't get hit. These men put their health and lives on the line in there, and it takes the skill of defense in order to be able to go home intact and healthy to their families.

Fighting off the back foot and primarily with jabs.

I don't know why people get so paranoid about the 'runner' tag. If someone else is too slow to catch you that's their problem... ;)

Its not paranoia, its just incorrect. if your fight off the baack foot and using your jab, then your a boxer, or an out fighter. When your running, there's no contact, no punching, your just staying out of range and there's no action.

Wanna know what a runner is? Watch DLH in the later rounds when he fought Tito.

The potshot style that kept snapping Hatton's head back and knocked him out. Is that the one your referring to.

This came from the Baldo fight. And no there wasn't much leather flyin in that one. He really lost alot of fans with this fight and gained alot of critics with that performance.

There have been fighters that were arguably worse in this aspect.

I could point out Camacho and Whitaker.
