it is true, some of the old time guys are overrated just because the names have been in boxing for 75 years, but there is nothing you can do about it.

That was over a hundred years ago. If you are claiming that is representative of Boxings Golden age, then you are indeed being unbelievably stupid.

fighters where allowed to fight fights that simply wouldnt be sanctioned today, greb actually fought to a draw with a guy who was 3-5-2 when he was in his prime.dont get me wrong greb was a beast beating tunney and even giving dempsey more than he could handle in exhibitions but the records are padded to the maximum

you really don't know what you are talking about - those fight records are INCOMPLETE...

complete or incomplete the point i am making is that champions used to fight complete novices with no top flight experience hence why they could fight and win so often and fighters today simply wouldnt be allowed to fight such inferior opposition.im not saying it makes them any less great as it is the greats who they fought and beat that makes them great but the 100 and odd wins on their record doesnt make them any greater than todays fighters because they where fought against novices

"champion fighters today wouldn't be allowed to that", - fight novices ( they weren't novices - their records are unknown/INCOMPLETE), so you are wrong about that...

let me tell you what fighters today wouldn't be allowed to do today, which top fighters in these great periods did with regularity, and that is fight UP - bigger, stonger men a division or two heavier - Top Bigmen - while still basically at thier own weight, i.e Welterweight fighting a L-HW and so on...

never even a consideration today, never mind be allowed!!!

nostalgia takes ahold so much in boxing its silly. like any other sport it evolves. so the long jumpers arnt as good as they used to be?. the sprinters ?the long distance runners?. the javelin?. football?. boxing is no different. the sport has evolved there are better training techniques better diet plans and theres all the history to reflect upon and learn from and add to. in a hundred years youl have an arguemnt somewhere saying "them boxers from the 90's and 2000's would destroy any of todays fighters" it was said in alis day its said now and will be said in the future.

if their records are incomplete the fact that there is that many losses at lest still means they are not of a high standard.im not criticising saying the fighters arent as great because of the weak opposition it is the good opposition that made them. if they fought someone who was world class 37 times in a year they would have brain damage shortly after

Yeah because you probably grew up in the 20s and 30s and was watching the prime fighters in the 40s and 50s eh?

That would made you between 70-90 years old now ********?

Unless your evidence is watching youtube videos or old tapes or listening to Bert Sugar then you need to STFU.
