    Title or no title...
Bottom line Ward is putting Dawson at a far greater disadvantage than PAcquiao did to Cotto. And Cotto was a better fighter than Dawson too.

as far as I'm concerned if you're a WW titleholder then defend your title against other WW's. If you're gonna defend your title against a guy who just weighed in at 138 then don't cry about it being at a catchweight of 145.

See this exactly why I made this thread. Far too many people use your choice of words. "Ward is PUTTING Dawson at a far greater disadvantage". Really? It's not as if Dawson vollunteered or anything right? Very different from Roach saying "Fight at 145 or no fight."

Secondly, if Pacquiao's team thought he was too small to fight a full-fledged 147 welterweight, then he had no business fighting for a welterweight title in the first place. This part of the reason why belts don't have nearly as much value as they used to. A fighter fighting for the welterweight title should be able to fight any fighter from 141 and 147 lbs. It's what the belts USED to mean. Why stop there? Why not have a heavyweight title fight at a catchweight of 175? Why not? Clearly it's ok, right?

Look my problem is not that the fight was fought at a catchweight (even though I'm not a fan of catchweights at all). My problem is having a catchweight for a title fight. Any boxing fan worth their salt knows that having a title fight at a catchweight is ridiculous.

I can see the comparsion but Dawson indeed asked for it.
