Probably because he talked huge amounts of trash but when the time came to back up his words he failed spectacularly. Personally, I was never fond of his trash talk, but I was willing to accept it because he had a good attitude about fighting the best and going wherever he needed to go. After the prolonged 'will Haye ever fight a klitschko saga?' there should have been some reward for Haye's fans and boxing fans in general at the end of it. Instead we got a pathetic performance where Haye showed no fighting heart, no determination, no desire or urgency to win, instead he was simply focused on going the distance and not being embarrassed. He was no different to every other Klitschko opponent, in that respect. And to compound a miserable, totally unsatisfying performance, he blamed his little toe before starting the tedious trash talk all over again. A very good fighter, but full of empty promises. And I'm not even mentioning the fact that as the heavyweight champion he decided to "fight" Audley Harrison - what an utter, utter joke that was.
think you are missing how much he did before that challenge, like winning all those world titles within 24 fights. Beating the best in the division you start in and then challenging the best above shows alot of heart. If you think Haye failed that miserably then what did you make of all the other HW talkers who all did worse than Haye during Wlads current HW reign? Edit With Harrison, it was a great way for Haye to build exposure, a British world champ against a British Olympic gold medallist, where it was hyped to the hill, with them both on morning TV. Fantastic build up that made both money and got their faces everywhere. World champ against the European champ
fact is the only people who can legit be hating on Haye are ****ing morons who know nothing about the sport or Haye and what he did prior 2010. of which this site is full of them.
Let me put this in a simple way.. If you talk trash, fall short and blame your toe.... Chances are that some people are going to fire back at you..
David Haye brings it on himself, but don't feel sorry for him. I'm sure he considers it a fair trade for his fame and money-making potential and would have it no other way.
yeah of course, some ass clowns are always going to pipe up about **** no matter what you do. it's the ones that keeeeeeep going on about it, as though they have nothing else going on in their lives, it's sad man, real sad.
Haye's 24th fight - Knocks out John Ruiz to retain his WBA heavyweight title, in addition to being unified cruiserweight champion of the world Wlads 24th fight - Loses to Ross Purrity, fans claim he's still 'green'.
No doubt, but dont you think WBC WA WBO Ring CW titles and WBA HW title all within 24 fights is something to talk about. Also who did better against Wlad during his current HW reign than Haye?
No he didnt, he got KOd (and some arent convinced about that) in the 11th round and had won about 2 rounds at most and didnt land anything as good as Haye had landed
I can't devalue Haye's achievements are cruiserweight (he was nothing less than a great CW), but let's not pretend all his titles didn't come from his last two fights at the weight.
