Why do people feel Rigondeaux is more deserving of a Donaire fight than Mares?

I do think it would be more applealing/dramatic if donaire/rigo fought and mares being the dark horse, kind of like what they did to the s6 and bute

With that, so that means the guy from California wins the finals in a dominant fashion, the loser gets the belt again by trashing the dark horse. Is that it?

 

Not really, I'm not talking about results but more about situations and matchmaking

Donaire-Rigo, then Mares might make more than the other way around but I can see it that way as well

In all honesty even as a Donaire fan. I never see Rigo an easy fight whatever glass he has on the beard.

He needs to be 100% focused with a solid gameplan and not just try to get away with a sweeping left hook.

 

rigo is overrated until he beats someone, fight his way all throughout the ladder like other fighters did. Right now I want to see donaire mares, since mares deserve it 10x more than rigo after beating moreno. Or he moves up and fights one of the featherweight champs, salido, ponce, chris john. Nobody can question donaire of ducking anyone if he does that, since those guys are more dangerous than rigo.

 

If he can't get a fight with Mares then I'd rather him move up to featherweight and fight a guy like Salido who haswins over top fighters and deserves a big money fight.

As I said earlier, you wouldn't expect Floyd Mayweather to face Kell Brook, or Andre Ward to fight Edwin Rodriguez, or Juan Manuel Marquez to fight Denis Shafikov (3 fighters who have proved round about the same as Rigondeaux), so why expect Donaire to fight Rigondeaux then accuse him of ducking?

 

The question wasn't " who do you think will get the fight" The question was; why do people feel that Rigondeaux is more deserving of the fight than Mares and most of the responses were that people feel that Mares is more deserving. It is what it is. Ain't nobody hatin on Rigondeaux, he's an excellent fighter. Just feel the Mares fight is the right one for now.

 

Both are deserving. Mares has more credentials to be honest but Rigo was in Cuba so I don't hold his lack of pro experience against him. It's clear he has talent. I think Donaire will wait until Rigo is as old Nishioka to fight him.

Rigo isnt an average boxer despite his 11 fights, the guy is a legend among boxing fans.
There is a reason why Don King wanted to match Teofilo Stevenson( who never fought a single pro fight) against Mohamed Ali, Stevenson same as Rigo belong to an special breed of fighters.No matter what their professional record says.

Donaire was the one claiming he was gonna clean the division, he picked Vasquez( who was previously beaten by old Arce by TKO and whose credentials were below average)and Mathebula( unknown out of his tribe)...he hasnt cleaned the division yet.

 

Nobody but I think Carl Frampton (Steve Molitor) and Scott Quigg (Rendall Monroe) both have a better name on their resume than Rigondeaux.

Shinsuke Yamanaka (Darchinyan and Rojas) and Leo Santa Cruz (Eric Morel) at bantamweight are more deserving if they wish to move up in weight.

The most deserving in and around Donaire's division of a big fight is the winner of Orlando Salido and Mickey Garcia on Jan 19th if a fight with Mares can't be made.
