Why do people generally think Ward's adaptability is great?

When did Ward ever adapt ala Calzaghe (against Kessler) or Floyd (against Judah, Mosley and many more)

I mean, whats with marking him an adaptive fighter, I see him doing the same thing over and over fight after fight. He's dirty, reliable, hardworking and all.. but he aint no god damn Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd is perfect, defensive beast, has the most reactive defense in boxing today, Ward is not reactive, he's borderline inactive with his defense, his style is ugly.

Personally I can't stand Ward. His fights are not just boring... they're brutal to watch!!!

    This dirty-fighting, bible-thumping ******* should change his name from S.O.G. to P.O.S.

Ward is vastly overated. He gets away with an awful lot of holding. Americans call it ring smarts. Hatton ties up and hits the opponent and ye call him dirty.

How many Ward fights have you seen? The guy can box behind a jab, fight on the inside and fight like a savvy vet like Hopkins when he needs to. He's the without a doubt the most complete fighter at 168 and arguably one of the most complete in the whole sport.

He is complete, but he's not adaptive. Floyd is a reactive boxer while Andre Ward is a predetermined clincher/holder. Look, Ward is a complete fighter, much like Hopkins.. but he'll never hold a candle to Floyd, and thats the brutal and honest truth.

ward has evolved into this Hopkins/Ruiz/Hatton style of fighting and frankly I thought i was watching BOXING last night not MMA. Thats not adapting, thats chasing everyone out of the venue and curing insomnia on a global level.

The main difference between PBF and Ward is that PBF is a much better pure athlete than Ward is. Kinda like RJJ was a much better pure athlete than Hopkins. I still say this that Dirrell would give Ward hell if they ever fought because of his speed an athletic ability.

I think so too man, I think we can both agree that we're fortunate that Floyd is the premier boxer and not Ward/Hopkins.

The Miranda, Kessler, Green, and Bika fights. I actually think Ward like all boxers, knows his own shortcomings, which is lack of power and suspect chin, so he fights like he does. Take last nights fight for example. He throws a left jab to the body of Bika and is already moving in to grab Bika around the waist with his left. Thats not ring smarts, its bull**** and he should be pulled up for it as he is always doing that.

He's very conscious of the angles, distance and range. Just watch the way he positions his body and mostly his hands under various circumstances.

I think he didn't fight the way he should have against Bika. He needs to use more of his athleticism from now on. He hasn't been fun to watch that's for sure..

The problem with ward is that he does not seem very confident on the outside. I think he can fight very well on the outside but its like he gets nervous and needs to clinch everytime he or his opponent lands. Having said that he will be Very hard to beat because he is so good at that fighting style and its hard to avoid a guy who will hit and hold with fast mobile legs.

I was real high on Ward early on his career and I thought he looked amazing technically, especially on the outside.

And I thought he did a great job against Miranda too by fighting on the inside, and muscling him around, but now he's getting to the point where that's all he does, and he's taking advantage of it by initiating clinch after clinch after clinch.

And that **** does get old, and it probably should be illegal.

He needs to go back to utilzing his very good boxing skills instead of taking advantage of who he is and who's reffing him.

I don't like MMA, and I don't like RUIZ and people who like him.

Because he still needs more fight to prove it. You can't judge him right now already. He already has Kessler and Bika on his resume, two major names that represent Calzaghe's record.

You make a good point, but its painfully obvious Ward has not yet deserved being called adaptive, like Calzaghe or Floyd.

Reactive fighters like Calzaghe and Floyd do things on the move, Ward, much like Hendo pointed out.. has fallen in love with initiating clinches and rough house tactics.
