Why do people hate Amir Kahn?

people say hes protected talks too much, glass chin and all that but sometimes especially in UK its due to jealousy and racism. A proud muslim Brit doesn't fit to well with some white ppl here. David Haye for avoiding Klitshkos hasn't got anything compared to Khan

 

1 - his trainer doesn't shut the **** up
2 - aside from his trainer he gets a lot of hype for some reason
3 - people hype up his race (for good or worse) and nobody gives a **** honestly

can't think of anything else

 

I'm not here to spark up some racism debate or anything, but racism is to do with it being asian and plus being young and achieving so much so early.

It's disgraceful.

 

Because hes a pakistani

because hes a muslim

because hes rich

because hes confident

because hes a ***** magnet

because hes been so hyped without doing much

 

This is actually not an easy question to answer and there are a lot of reasons, but here’s mine from a British point of view.

1) He does talk a lot of **** in his interviews. He always hypes himself up to be a fantastic boxer, even when he was still wet behind the ears. He always thought he was unbeatable, and whenever he was hurt or out boxed in a period in a fight he brushed it off as nothing. That’s why a lot of people, myself included, were happy when he got KO’ed just to bring him down a peg or two. Us in the UK like humble guys, rather than people who think they are the dogs bollocks.

2) he has never taken a risk in his life. Now this is VERY unfair IMO. Of course when someone turns pro, they are fed opponents they should beat in their sleep. But in Kahn’s case he seemed to be spoon fed a little more than most IMO. The only time he took a risk was when he fought Prescott and we all no how that ended. Instead of working with his training to right the wrongs, he sacked his corner after just 1 fight, thus seemingly placing the blame on others rather than himself. He did not fight Maidana (extremely heavy handed) even tho he is a mandatory, instead opting to face a relatively safe opponent in Paulie.I can honestly say that if he would have fought Maidana he would have gotten my respect for taking a risk, but he didn’t

3) finally, people don’t like to see others succeed, period. When he won the silver medal, a lot of people wanted to see him fail. This is not my own personal view as I think that’s extremely childish, but that’s just the way it is im afraid.

I don’t really buy the race thing if im honest. But others will tell you that’s another key reason. Thats my take for what its worth anyway

 

Pretty much says it all. However you are playing down the race issue, which whether you admit or not, is a contributing factor to why he's hated so much by certain people. You need not go any further than this very same message board we're talking in, to realize this is the case. Dig up the thread about the Khan/Malignaggi weigh in brawl, and you'll notice some of the racist remarks that still remain if they haven't been deleted. If not, then simply bring up one of the many Prescott/Khan videos on youtube, and have fun reading all the comments. If that still doesn't convince you, then read some of the news reports on the reception he recieved in the Barrera fight.

I agree that for some race is an issue,but i dont think its a main reason, and definately not 1 for me. At the end of the day im a boxing fan, i will support/dislike boxers due to their ability in the ring and sometimes what they do out of it, not because some1 is of a different race.

the reason why the race issue doesnt hold up with me is that Lewis got a hell of a lot of support in the UK, and Haye is getting similar backing. Even Prince Naz got a little bcking in the UK, but Kahn doesnt seem to get any

 

Asians (MUSLIMS) have become the new blacks in UK
due to all the terrorism and them not conforming to British culture.
Racism is still alive and growing

 

He talks trash.

People do not expect this kind of undignified behavior from boxers.

 

It's racism pure dead & simple, Ricky Hatton is loved in Britain & he gobs off more than Khan ever does & he dodged Junior Witter his whole career & no-one said anything,

 

It's because he's black.
