How is it undiginified? The most glorified boxer of all time was the king of talking ****. 4) People are already talking about him fighting $ when he hasn't paid any dues yet, and he got knocked the **** out in a ridiculous manner. Pac was knocked out early in his career, and he had to go through hell with all his ring wars before anyone considered him anything special.
There is a huge gulf in difference with being black, and being a Pakistani Muslim (especially post 9/11). Over the years blacks have become more accepted in the UK as they have made more of an attempt to intergrate (they too will go on nights out, they too will go down the boozer, as well as many other things). Pakistani Muslims (as well as other Muslims) on the other hand, are prevented from doing similar things due to their beliefs and practices. Their religion is something they will never compromise; hence the reason why they've not intergrated as fluently as the black people have. So comparing Haye/Lennox to Khan, is not as straight forward as it would seem. And in regards to Naseem, at the time he was around, he too was hated a fair amount. He certainly was not popular as people make him out to be. He's a classic example of people missing something once it's left them
If any of you remember, when Khan lost, on all the Youtube comments, he was constantly called a 'paki', a 'terrorist'. I remember it very well and will never forget the discusting comments people made.
I don't like him because of the **** he talked about MAB after the fight. He hasn't earned the right to say anything negative whatsoever about any fighter of MAB's stature.
I`m not gonna talk about him being protected to much, cuz thats not his fault.. He is only 23 and have many years left and lot more to show. But just because some people dont see anything special in this fighter yet, doesn`t mean they hate him! With that being said, i admire his skills and speed.. but thats about it. His power is average and all knows his chin is very bad. Its kinda hard (for me) to give him real credit before he fights and dominate a dangerous opponent, who can give him the real test we all are looking foreward to see
He does often act like a complete ****wit outside of the ring and that definitely turns off the public. That being said, he's still a young 'un when and you've been told you're fantastic since the age of 17 it probably does bring a bit of delusion. Maybe because of his age he should be forgiven a bit more. Every fight of his has been televised on terrestrial tv in the UK since he fought in the olympics and that level of exposure has led to people becoming bored of seeing him flatten a string of no-hopers. Of course most fighters have this but you generally dont see the majority of their fights until they become contenders. His face was on every bloody magazine, paper, dvd, and tv show yet the real boxing fans knew it was only early days and he might not amount to anything. After so much over-exposure, his big talk (along with the big talk of others) and his behaviour outside the ring I think a lot of people just wanted to see him put in his place. Me included. I even paid £15 to see the replay of the 1 round Prescott fight even though I knew the result Im ashamed to say! Since teaming up with Roach he has started to iron out some obvious flaws and taken on some better competition and although ive always supported him as a fighter, ive gained a new respect for him over the last year. Still needs to grow up a bit but he's started to look the part now and i'll continue to support him.
Do you have actual quotes, or are you going off hearsay and garbage put out by notorious khan haters? Cos i've looked high and low for these quotes which disparage a HOF worthy opponent, and i cant find anything. All i can find is Barrera calling him a kid who was gonna get fcked up.
Because he believes in his own ridiculous hype he will never be an elite because of his chin and the public are not so stupid these days and know this.In general just has this perception of himself as this legend before he's actually done anything. He is just too cocky and self assured for someone so unproven and that is not a good quality to have, once you have reached somewhere to brag about then by all means.
Yeah point taken, its hard to compare the two. But im really not sure it is THE reason people dont like him. I no during the Salita fight, the youtube clips were full with raicst comments from Jews directed at Muslims and vice versa (which is pretty sad as the two guys are boxers not international diplomats). Maybe your right m8 and its me thats overlooking the race card, or maybe others overplay it. Its probably down to each individual person
Are boxing talents with potential that rare coming out of the UK? Khan gets a **** load of special attention.
You really think that winning an Olympic silver medal at 17 and becoming WBA world champion at 22/23 is not 'doing much'? :huhatsch
